Trouble with .wsz

Whenever I try to download any WinAmp 2 skin, instead of the download window coming up, a page loads with the URL ending in .wsz but it's displayed as a text file. The plugins are downloading fine, it's just the skins that are giving me problems.

We just bought a new computer and I'm still restoring all the settings I've always used. Right now I'm using Mozilla and wondering if perhaps I need to adjust the settings to get these .wsz files to download properly.

(This is not a problem using the new version of IE. The file will download as a zip file just fine.)

Don't download with Mozilla, it's a bit of a known bug

This is the most recent thread on the topic I could find.

Try using the right click, save target as method.

Thanks.

Actually when I kept trying to right-click save it would only give me the option of saving it as a .html file. So it loads as a .wsz, displays as .txt and saves as .html? Good lord.

I never have tried to download skins with Mozilla which explains why this was never a problem until now. Duh. I heard there were some bugs, but IE will just have to do.

If you let the text load, you can go 'file > save page as...' and save it to your skins directory. A little crud, but if you've already clicked the link you may as well let it continue loading since it doesn't take long.

And, wow, I didn't beleive it would download randomly as an html file, but it does.

The problem is that the webserver that winamp is hosted on is telling the browser that the .wsz files are text files. Mozilla displays them as text files, but IE ignores the content-type that it was told, and goes by file extension.
So, this could be fixed by just changing a few things in the webserver config...

There used to be more stuff, but hey, links die over the years.
