Applying replay gain.

Hi,

I have been applying replay gain to some of my mp3s using the new Winamp 5.30. However, after the mp3s are analyzed I get the option to either apply as an album or as tracks. I would like to apply both so I can choose how to use replay gain in the future either album based or track based.

But when I look at the extended tags after having chosen to apply only album gain I see that both album AND track gain information is added to the mp3. This makes me wonder that even if you choose one or the other both album gain and track gain is stored in the mp3. Is that the case? If so it would be great since that is what I wanted in the first place: Not having to run the analyzing twice to have both album and track gain added to my mp3s

If someone could clarify this it would be great.

Saving album gain information also saves track gain.

For anyone else wondering how, there's more information in the Notes section of the 5.3 Released thread.

Hate to sound stupid here, but what are the differences between Applying Gain, Preventing Clipping, and Normalizing?

I can't find my answer there. Mind sending me to a specific page that tells me the difference between the Winamp normalizing and applying gain, or explaining it to me? Do they use different terminology?

See if this thread helps:

(pay attention to what gaekwad2 says about normalization, and to the Wikipedia links posted by DJ Egg)

Good Winamp plugins by Joonas, DrO and shaneh.
