policy abuse

hey!

just found a station which abuses the policy of aol and shoutcast.

85.214.45.104:8000/
85.214.45.104:9000/
shoutcast.com/directory/?s=fireradio

Stream Status: Stream is up at 128 kbps with xx of xx listeners (xx unique)

the 7.html is also faked.

perhaps aol or some admins would like to ban them from the yp for abusing against the policy?

What do you know... They are hosted from ripper heaven... Ripe Network.

Those may also be rogue relays.

A search of the YP shows Fireradio as:
http://85.214.45.104:8500 for AAC
and http://91.121.77.91:8200 for MP3 with different content.

Your mileage may vary!

Then again..... The YP shows the MP3 link as having 5000+ slots available, and the status page shows 9 of 500.

Maybe the YP should block anything coming from the RIPE network. The only connections I ever see on our server from that network are rippers, so it wouldn't bother me.

Your mileage may vary!

Greg_E, I do hope when you are saying they come from the RIPE network you aren't just quoting what ARIN's whois told you without understanding what it means.

i will look into this...

Please don't PM me for technical support. Other users can't search through PM's so it does the other users no good.

Trust me , Greg E is qouting without fully understanding what the RIPE network is.

He's unaware of the fact that the RIPE network is nothing more than an IP trace page.

It has nothing to do with rippers.

What i wonder about most is what the threadstater has to win by telling on others.

I smell a station that is loosing listeners to another station and is trying to get even or is trying to silence the competition.

it ain't our concern what others do.
All we as shoutcast broadcasters have to do is make sure our side of the street is clean.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

It has nothing to do with competitors. If you are able to edit SHOUTcast, you are

a) abusing the policy
b) able to fake listeners

and then get pushed on the top just to get more listeners. Other radios wont like that, do you like it?

Found another station. In the last days there came another webradio station "online".

1 [electro dance techno] CLUSTER NoNameRadio
Now Playing: [ICY 200 OK] kim.azztec.fr:8100 2743/4270 128 MP3

shoutcast.com/directory/?s=Noname
shoutcast.com/ttsl.html

If you look on the TTSL stats, they were not found on Oct 2. But now they have over 2700 listeners? In just 18 days?

I compared all data a few days now and they always got listeners from 2600-2800 the WHOLE day! That cant be true. Every radio station has many listeners in peak times and in the morning or at night nearly 1/4 is NOT listening to the radio. But here are 24/7 listeners ???? That cant be true.

They currently have 5 servers, 3 are always full and the other ones are nearly blank!

Also they do not have any website and you cant find a "NoNameRadio" at Google or so. So how do they get listeners then?! And so much?

in case you didn't notice nothing happened.
Nothing will happen you are the only one that is making a lot of noise over something that will be handled without you telling here.

All you do is with your posting is giving the station FREE advertising.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.
