Who....?

Another day, another skin.....

Some of you may know of my love of the British show Doctor Who, some of you may have seen the plethora of skins and remixed skins I've made on the subject, which currently stands at.....

6 Modern skins
2 Mini Modern skins (using MiniMe technology)
2 Classic skins.

Some are available on Winamp.com, some are not and I did them for my benefit, all are available somewhere or other on the web...

Anyhow, the Doctor Who Classic skin I did a few years ago, was basically done out of left over bits and bobs from the modern skin I was working on at the time, it was ok, did what it said on the tin, a couple of years later I updated this skin to reflect the change in the leading man of the show, this was little more than going back to the original layer file, swapping an image over and recutting the skin, simples (don't think that version is on winamp.com)

Anyhow, bored this morning,I realised my past works had recently been surpassed by some of the other Doctor Who skins, so I thought, oh, I know, lets throw out a proper 11th Doctor Classic skin, I'm still loving my re-discovered joy of classic skinning, so why not......

Question is, carry on or not bother?, just kicked a few ideas around really and tried to match up the colour schemes and the like to the official Doctor Who web site.

gosh, who knows I might actually finish one of these skins sooner or later.....

Woah sally, you have quite a few on the go. I think I had this problem once, in fact I believe you would bug me shitless about not finishing a skin before starting three more.

I do like the look of this Who skin as it is, and of course I think you should finish but please finish the others!

Yeah, I know what you mean, however...

Knight Lore - Finished (bug testing)
Underwurlde _ 80% complete
JR-X Finished - (bug testing)
Dukside Remix - Finished apart from mono/stereo indicators

This... No where near finished....or started for that matter

See, not as bad as it sounds....

Have you considered using the colour spread from the time vortex tunnel images (T.A.R.D.I.S. flying scenes) for the base color scheme instead? Just a thought.

Either way, go forth and carry on. Looks smashing so far.

I did, have it somewhere a layer on the file, looks a bit rubbish, looks and works better on the modern version (available on winamp.com for your downloading pleasure)

And bug testing is so so important, even though I've been looking at and using JR-X for a good couple of weeks, I found a horrific bug in the volume bar only yesterday, lord knows how I didn't see if beforehand.

See kids, test test and test again!

Nice start, nice use of the new logo, maybe Dr 11 should fade out a bit more gradually (as you can mostly hide the fade behind the EQ bars). Background has an interesting design to it

Who is the milkman? What is the purpose of the goggles?

Fuckity fuck, somehow, god knows how , I've managed to corrupt the layer file, fuck...

Anyone know how to fix a psp file? tried it in irfanview, hopeless, it opens in gimp, but all but one layer is blank..

Crappppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp......

Luckily... I had a dull day at work today and got a ton of stuff shifted off the layer file and onto the skin itself, pretty much all the main/eq and playlist stuff is copied over.

The rest I can probably put together from what I have already copied over, hadn't started the video / gen windows anyhow, so nothing lost there, playlist stacks hadn't been started, so nothing lost there.

Damd damd damd!!

It's, umm, spelt "damn", in case you were wondering.

I'd of thought any open source psd loader would be quite aggressive loading a file, so unless photoshop does any better than gimp I'm not too sure if you could get much back, without learning the file format and hacking around. (I'll welcome being proved wrong.)

Or perhaps "damned," if that's what you were going for.

No idea about psp files, I just use an old old version of photoshop, myself

Cheers,

Think it's had it however, looks like the file hadn't finished 'saving' as my machine went inti hibernation, net result one buggered up file.

Oh well, easy come , easy go.

Like I say, not a total disaster, I have a lot of the elements saved elsewhere and the majority of the skin cut & pasted, so probably can remake any layer bits needed to complete the skin.

Bloody frustrating though!
