Bible story, help needed, reference for an essay
Hi people,
I have to ask the religious among you to answer me one simple question. There is the story of someone who takes a thorn from a lion's paw and this man is later thrown to the lions. The lion confronting him does not eat him as they recognise each other. I need some more information on this story, such as who the man is and which book it is in. All help will be greatly appreciated. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not paranoid, they really are after you. |

Daniel never pulled a thorn out of the lion's paw.
Bible's take on it:God held back the lion's fury without any intervention from man. but do look it up to be sure, i've been clean for a week brain may not be 100% |

Sounds like a couple of separate myths getting entangled here.
There is the story of 'Androcles and the Lion' from Aesop, and there is the story of Daniel from the Bible. (edit) And the St Jerome one given by zorpidus. Myths and fables are like that, bits from one get added to others and characters change to suit the prevailing view.(/edit) UJ |

Since the bible IS a book of fables, I see how you could get them confused...

Blessed is the mouse that removeth the thorn from the lion's paw, for he will not get eaten.
Blessed is the lion that does not eat the mouse, for he shall be rescued from the hunter's net by the mouse. |
