Scrolling wheel problems

Hi, I've just bought a new laptop and I now run Windows 7 - Home Premium.

I also bought a new wireless mouse. It's a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 with Bluetrack technology. Everything works fine with it except in winamp (I run the version 5.572).

The only thing that doesn't work is when I scroll down and only down with the scrolling wheel, making lowering the volume, going down in the playlist, etc, difficult. The mouse works well with any other application.

Any ideas on what might be the cause/workarounds ?

Thanks

Alan

its microsoft's intellipoint software
i have the same issue with the microsoft comfort mouse
in order for me to get the mouse to work i have to have a cheap usb mouse (i got it free with the system) plugged into another port on the computer
other than this there isn't much you can do until microsoft puts out a update addressing the issue in the intellipoint software

thanks rob

the issue is in winamp as there were changes with how the mouse wheel 'delta' is defined and passed to the player with Vista & up on the WM_MOUSEWHEEL message. one of the dev team was meant to have fixed the issue in 2008 but nothing was done. i've looked but as i don't have a mouse which exhibits the issue i can't reliably fix the issue & i don't need to buy a new mouse currently so it'll probably remain unfixed *shrugs*
