I've had access to 490 for a few weeks and I'm still using 488b - 489/490 has some major problems with playlists, the Info Editor doesn't work, and none of the funky new UI features work. Still, it looks pretty.

Oh, and DO NOT INSTALL OVER YOUR CURRENT BUILD. Things will be fucked. That is all.

490 was released to internal testers on the 9th of October - hopefully there should be more public builds published now. FYI 490 is still the latest build I have access to.

I really dont suggest installing this, there are a lot of small bugs in it that'll really annoy you (ok.. i've been running it since it came up on the private site, but thats beside the point). please dont report the bugs, they already know about them.

I'd like to meet a mad man who makes it all seem sane
To work out all these troubles and what there is to gain

Can't see this one silencing the trolls

Good to see that Russ' componants that I use still work fine.. info and audio tracker.

DO like the fact that there are now by default your cd-drives on the list

Oh and it's 4 weeks old !!!

well at least this stuff has changed

--BUILD 489
16-sep-2002 brennan
made wasabi loader do IPC, wayyyyyyy faster now (no need to init dlls and do xml reading and whatnot just to enqueue a file)
renamed studio.exe to winamp3.exe finally
added /attrset switch
made shuffle choose from whole playlist, not just part (eventually it would choose them all but not at first)
16-sep-2002 mig
added more files to BFC to match files shipped in SDK. SDK should be good to go.
don't forget to refresh your project tree to make sure you get all the projects currently in Examples
15-sep-2002 mig
updated mksdk_filelist and sdk.nsi for new projects (checked changes in, but kept the files out to me if more needed)
11-sep-2002 brennan
made monitor aspect ratio option work
made commandline actions work again
added video fullscreen toggle action as service
10-sep-2002 francis
back from vacations
added <NStatesButton />
05-sep-2002 christophe
fixed bug when user shutdowns the computer with wa3 running
04-sep-2002 aus
added exampledsp and exampledragdrop to the examplestudio workspace.
changed my email addy in readme.txt to bugs@winamp.com. phew.
04-sep-2002 brennan
added WAComponentClient::registerExtension()
made NSV register its extension correctly (now shows up in Video query)
03-sep-2002 brennan
made info thread detect main thread dying better
added %filename% and %filename.ext% to name formatter
31-aug-2002 mig
Fixed bug in ListWnd where it would dereference null when sorting columns if a row had 0 subitems.
Talkback stripping already works off of a file list, just update that file list with whatever folder changes you make.
29-aug-2002 brennan
added class RecurseDir
made component loading recurse thru wacs/*
moved some wacs into wasabi.system/, some into winamp/
btw this means talkback.bat has to handle some recursion now and studio.nsi will need to be updated too
27-aug-2002 christophe
updated PP's plugins and made them link to either waclient_dll or waclient
26-aug-2002 christophe
added isSelectableOutput() in media converter class
added selectable output in prefs (Audio)
fixed HUGE bug in HTTP login access. this was probably breaking a lot of studio.xnf files I think...
26-aug-2002 brennan
added playlist editor time display
23-aug-2002 brennan
added "Monitor aspect ratio" attribute
made prefs xml for it (System/Display)
made checkbox use string for radioval
added title formatting: %artist% - %album% - %title% etc.
someone should add an xml pref for "Track name format" for it, eh
22-aug-2002 mig
Group.cpp L:254 --
if (min_y != AUTOWH && max_y != AUTOWH && min_y < max_y) min_y = max_y;
"If min_y < max_y" is not a good condition for min_y = max_y.
Note that this means using MAXIMUM_H in getPreferences()
is b0rked in 1.0, and causes any user-resize to force the
window to always be MAXIMUM_H size. Bummer.
22-aug-2002 brennan
added context menu entries for directories
21-aug-2002 christophe
added "Remove" function to skin switcher
19-aug-2002 brennan
added Std::getNumCPUs() and Std::setThreadPriority()
15-aug-2002 christophe
added mute action (MUTE)
14-aug-2002 brennan
added Playlist::Event_QUEUE_DELETION
made dbScanner support int indexes
added INCRITICALSECTION macro
made Thread use an explicit killswitch
made svc_itemMgr:ptimizeFileData() take an int for datatype
added some critical section protection to metadb_dupPlaystring() and to ServiceManager too
and finally, made metadata info reading run in a separate thread
12-aug-2002 brennan
added Playlist::getCachedNameForEntry() updated lite mode in studio.nsi
11-aug-2002 christophe
updated diskwriter
updated shoutcaster
added visualisations refresh rate setting in preferences

I didn't any errors with this version that I don't get with the official release. In fact it only had to be installed once and didn't go crazy when I first started it, which is always a bonus

It's an internal, a snapshot of the current code. Cool stuff is in the works; the framework is not all there yet. I haven't had any problems with the build (none more than usual), and I've been using it for almost a month now. I usually use 488, or 2.81 day to day, however.

Don't complain about bugs for this one.

hahah, yea i found out about this while i was looking for office 11 beta1, which im now dling (dont ask ).

ANYWAY, funny how nullsoft decided to move from a "final" release to an alpha. figures.

for free software, im not one to complain tho. as long as my skins work with the next version, without me having to rerwite the xml.

My god! It's not an alpha build its a private internal build gone public. If anything its an alpha build for the next version of Winamp3.0 (e.g Winamp 3.01)

The only reason you would be getting errors is if you didnt completely uninstall the old WA3 you had.

The Wasabi SDK is up there too...

Due to the way components are made that should always be the case with release builds now - components should be fully compatible between them (the only exception being if a component uses features introduced in a newer build)

add a new playlist; the buttons dissapear when it's on the playlists that point at cd drives. I think the action is still a bit buggy, but that's the idea.

Strange as my box is, i'd still like to give it the following comparison:

It's like a fine wine.. the more it sits around, the better it gets. In the beginning, I always got crash on exit. Now it's running quite smoothly. Not even avs will beat it down.

Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you:

EVOLVING CODE!

Yes, that's right, the only logical explanation must be that it has evolved and adapted itself to fit in with my computer!

BWAHAHAHAHA I'M A GENIOUS!! WHEE!! WHEE!!

Yeah, always chooses your first created playlist... I think... and tehn when you double click an mp3... it will wipe that playlist ./...

Think the next build should have the option of settings the opening playlist and setting the default enqueue/add playlist..
