Favorite Title Formatting

After playing around a bit with the advanced title formatting in Winamp, I finally found what I prefer... Here's my code:
code:
[%artist% - ][%album% - ]$if(%tracknumber%,'['$num(%tracknumber%,2)']' ,)$if2(%title%,%filename%)

Give it a try and see what you think... and post your favorite too!

Regards to all!

ok, here's mine:

[%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))[ '{'%year%'}']

which will turn out to be:
Thievery Corporation - Indra {2000}

first, i had it say
[%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))[ '['%album%[ / %tracknumber%]']'][ '{'%year%'}']
i.e.:
Air - Cherry Blossom Girl [Talkie Walkie / 02] {2004}
though i thought the lines got too long...

i also tried to abbreviate the album tag
$abbr(%album%,11)
to make it shorter, though it wasn't really recoverable any more...
Groove Armada - Edge Hill [GCHN / 10] {2001}

if i want to know on which album a track is, I hover the track so i get a tool tip telling me (see my sig: 'Tips in playlist')

WOW what a great plugin Tips is! Why haven't I known about it until now? Well anyway, it's pretty cool, definately going to have it's place in my Winamp setup.

I can't help but post my formatting string too...

code:

[%artist% - ]$if(%tracknumber%,'['$num(%tracknumber%,2)']' ,)$if2(%title%,%filename%)[\n%album% $if(%year%,'('$num(%year%,4)')' ,)][\nRating: %ratingstar%][\nGenre: %genre%][\nBitrate: %bitrate% kbps][\nPlayed: %playcount% times] %comment%

Just thought of it: The plugin needs to work in the Library! Tooltips in the ML... yes!

[edit]
Just changed it... I think this is a bit better:
code:

[%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,%filename%)[\n$if(%tracknumber%,'['$num(%tracknumber%,2)']' ,)%album% $if(%year%,'('$num(%year%,4)')' ,)][\nRating: %ratingstar%][\nGenre: %genre%][\nBitrate: %bitrate% kbps][\nPlayed: %playcount% times] %comment%

[/edit]

code:
$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))$cut($if2( - [%artist%],),18)$cut($if2( - [%album%],),18)$if2( - '['[%year%]']',)

This way if the tags that I want aren't present it wont display them. Helps to get around shittily tagged file my brother gets through Kazaa.

@J_Darnley:
are you aware of the fact that if2( - '['[%year%]']',) is exactly the same as
[ - '['%year%']']?
things that are put in [] brackets will only be displayed when one of the tags inside is present
so if %year% isn't there, all will be ignored
seems easier to me...

@Xak
hehe, great you like the tips

I like to keep titles short so I use the standard [%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%)).

For more info I also use gen_tips.

let this be a lesson to you all:

if you use [ code] blocks, put in your own linebreaks. I'm at 1280x960, and it still takes up two screen-widths.

btw, i use this:
[%artist% - ][%album% - ][%tracknumber% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))

it's simple, has the info i want when it's there.

Well, here's mine at the moment:

$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))[ {[%artist%]$if(%album%, - %album%},})]

I prefer having the title first in the playlist.

[%artist% - ][$cut(%year%,4), ][$cut(%album%,41), ][$if2($num(%tracknumber%,2),%Comment%), ][%title%]

This organizes my playlist by artist, with the artist's CD in cronologial order. I hate alphabetical order, it just as good as being random. If I need to find a specific song though, I can't just scroll and I usually have to use JTFE. The comment is in there so that I can have "Video" show up as the track number for music videos.

Thought I'd put my fav here for my own future reference. This only works with fixed size font and works best with only proper releases.

code:
$padcut(%genre%,20) - $padcut(%folder%,90) - $padcut('['%tracknumber%']',8) - $padcut(%artist%,30) - $padcut(%title%,50)

Well what do you know? It just keeps getting better:

code:
| $padcut(%genre%,17) | $padcut(%year%,4) | $padcut(%folder%,90) | $padcut($if(%tracknumber%, %tracknumber% ,),8) | $padcut(%artist%,25) | $padcut(%title%,50) | @ $ifgreater(%vbr%,0,$padcut(VBR,4) ~,$ifgreater(%bitrate%,360,FLAC ,$padcut(CBR,4) ))$padcut(%bitrate%,4) kb/s |

Still, it needs fixedtype font.

I display rating of each track by using something like this ****- for 4 star rating.
$repeat(*,%rating%) $repeat(-,$sub(5,%rating%)) [%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))
This is a real time saver when selecting new music. My ratings are like this:
***** best of the best
****- good
***-- unsorted or ordinary
**--- need to change genre or need some further attention
*---- marked for deletion
