Windows Media Player 10 BETA - YUK!

Gringos,

I've just tried WMP10 Beta, and i can tell you - IT SUCKS, god didn't heard my prays for a good reliable windows media player for streaming content, but what happend: You can't believe it, when you start the player the first time - it's even slower than WMP 9, though WMP worked like a SNAIL. Furthermore the UI, yuk, again it's the worst since WMP7.1!

After all - I AM HAPPY WITH MY WINAMP 5.03a and all patches - much faster, much cooler, much sexier ;-)

All the best, Max!
PS: WMP10 and iTunes are on my BLACKLIST!

Congratulations, you installed a fucking BETA. It's meant to have bugs. Hell, find me one program that doesn't have bugs. I've never had any problems with WMP9 launching slow or running unstable, even the WMP10 beta. I do agree that the UI is shit, though.

I don't like Windows Media Player either, but to be fair, WMP 10 is only in beta now so can't really expect the load time to be great. On the other hand, Microsoft released this beta, so you would think that it would be along enough to not have many speed issues, so users wouldn't get the wrong idea (like in this case). I'll just stick with Winamp...not that I would even consider dropping Winamp for Windows Media Player.

Who knows.

You'd think Microsoft would finally get their heads out of their asses and at least get a decent, competitive media player for the masses, but no, they keep making the shit more noob-proof and more shitty.

Noob-proof is Microsoft's new slogan. F*ckers!

That's why WiMP is the media player choice of noobs everywhere.

Also, not that I'm questioning anybody's loyalty to the llama, but if you all are such huge Winamp fans, why would you waste the time to install a beta of an inferior competitor?

In order to continue feeling superior?

Seriously, it (usually) doesn't hurt to know what the competition is up to.

I haven't tried the latest Windows Media Player beta, however, I know I don't like Windows Media Player 9. Though, iTunes is definitely not on my blacklist. I personally love iTunes and have been using it as my default media player for sometime. I never thought I'd find a player to replace Winamp for casual MP3/AAC listening but I have. Though I still use Winamp for listening to other formats since it's an excellent player. I've stopped expecting Windows Media Player to improve after the 8 and 9 releases didn't improve on the 7 release.

iTunes crossfading and vis are most definetly teribble.

Winamp is the best design around. You can you the player only and it doesnt use up the whole screen like wmp and itunes. Plus it can be expanded to look like the other two by opening the playlist editor and media library not to mention the eq.

And lastly.........The best plugins around.

I noticed itunes and wmp are about a step behind winamp regarding features, ie.. vis, plugins etc.

Well there is one good thing about it

You can ACTUALLY uninstall it, not like Wmp 9 where you have to use the system restore.

And as to stick up for wmp. It is my choice for video playback. Winamp isnt as useful as wmp for videos just yet.

I do not advocate Sonique but would provide this info:

http://sonique.lycos.com

Read the page carefully!

Read the Sonique forums and you will find out that Lycos basicly laid off the head devs of the Sonique team.

WMP9 sucks even for playing videos.

You should at least use WMP6.4 (mplayer2.exe in the wmplayer directory if you don't know) or, even better, a good video player like Media Player Classic, VLC etc.

I feel like people give wmp too little credit. The product is stable. It functions as it should. Bloated.. yes.. but what do you expect from microsoft. The product still does what is needs too.

Nope. There is no ability to uninstall WMP. The WMP has no support for other formats like OGG Vorbis or AAC, because Microsoft want, that you use their own wma format.

Well, to be fair, you can get it to play other formats (using directshow filters and splitters).

Its library wont recognise these files though.

Winamp plays all is tiny is large and sounds good. And you can get rid of it if you dont like it forwhatever reason. WiMP is none, it may be stable but no more so than 6.4 and 6.4 is faster and sleeker. I still use it to this day.

I tried iTunes. I hated it, for many reasons. Thats neither here nor there.

Because slavish, exclusive, blind devotion to anything is moronic?
