can anyone tell me what files windows explorer uses to display the tree view in the left hand pane of the explorer windows? any help would be great.

the majority of the basic windows functions are run through a key through explorer.exe, it that helps

As a Visual C++ programmer, I use CTreeCtrl to make that tree wherever I want to.
So what exactly do you want to do with that tree?
