Adding files to media library slows Winamp 5 to unusable level

When adding files to the media library Winamp 5 slows to a crawl and it is unusable. I am adding files to my media library from across my wireless-G network. I realize my network could be causing some slowdown but I don't think that Winamp should be unusable during the time files are being added. I have also noticed when files are being added it takes about 15 seconds per song for the metadata of my AACs to be read. So for 6000+ songs that could take 25 hours according to my calculation to add files to my media library from across my network. I've used programs such as Foobar2000 and it didn't take that long to scan files into its media library. I think this might be a bug that needs to be addressed. And by the way, I even tried the "Scan in background" feature and that didn't help matters. I am using Winamp 5.03 with the latest update patch installed. My OS is Windows XP Pro with SP1a, CPU: 2.8GHz P4, Memory: 512MB DDR.
