Yes, we're nearing 400,000 (393,254 currently) after nine years and a week of work. It's a pretty impressive (if not OCD) showing of commitment.

Glad to see you back. Stick around a while. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks guys. And those are the best tires I've ever used. They're not any good off-road, but on the street, these things let my truck handle better than a lot of small cars (even with tools in the back and ladders on top).

With safety as the #1 priority, good on-road tires are probably the best option, unless you are in a place where off-roading is an everyday necessity. Plus what you have has a sharp look, whereas what I use makes me look a bit like a hillbilly redneck.

Well, a lot of the roads around the Houston area could be considered "off-road" because they're so horrible...

I got my third PET scan yesterday (happy valentine's day to me). There's something oddly satisfying about being injected with radioactive liquid and being told not to come in close proximity to small children and animals for 12 hours. Even though it wasn't in the visible spectrum, I did indeed glow in the dark.

That's pretty impressive. I'd like to see what a Geiger counter would do near you when that stuff was in you.

I hope things are going as well as possible.

PET scan results showed some "abnormal usage" in my spine. They don't know what it is, so they're not speculating. They're having me get an MRI done soon to get a better look. I hope it's nothing.

Checking in for my semi-annual visit. I'm sitting here sipping on a glass of bourbon and checking in on forums that I haven't visited in a while.

How's everyone else doing around these parts? It's nice to sill see some names that I recognize.

Also, I can't believe it's been almost ten years (give or take a few months) since I've joined here. Time does indeed fly.

I'll be rolling across the state from Mercer County (Western) to Cape May, NJ (through Philadelphia) around the first week of July. I have some family watching my place while I'm out. I'll either cross the state on 80 or shoot down to Pittsburgh and catch 76; it's about the same amount of driving either way.

So, I found out what that "abnormal usage" was from the PET scan 6 months ago...

On Wednesday (Aug 7th), I woke up with horrible back pain. Difficult to even stand up. Doc sent me in for X-rays, MRIs, and my usual PET scan (since I was scheduled to have that soon anyway). Found out that I've got a bulging disc in my lower back between lumbar-5 and Sacral-1. Been out of work since then. Burned up all my vacation/sick time. Waiting for short-term disability to kick in. After jumping through a bunch of hoops, I'm finally getting to see a doctor that's going to give me a spinal injection, but it's going to be late next week before I can even get in for the consultation visit. As of now though, the pain has decreased quite a bit, but I'm still sore. I can walk around for short distances without too much issue, but it's a little tough to maintain composure. I can't lift or move anything heavy, and it's a chore to lace up my boots.

Here's an image slice from one of the MRI sets. http://sdrv.ms/1d6Um8l

The good news is, still no sign of cancer.

Sucks that you're having health issues, but a tiny upside is that you get to see inside yourself. Perhaps it's weird, but I think that it's very interesting to see x-rays of myself, or sonograms of my wife (while she was pregnant) or other related things.

I wish there were a crane or other heavy equipment that you could operate while in this condition; something with some accommodations that would let you move big shit with small movements. A lot of people in my area dream of getting the get out of work free card, but I don't see you like that. Hopefully you'll be back in working condition soon, but if not, you'll always be one to find stuff to keep busy.

Don't forget to live before you die.

:happydance: Be happy.

Cancer took my uncle (my father's oldest brother) last Sunday. His son went 5 years ago from the same disease and his father (my grandfather) died from it too. To repeat myself: be happy.

Thank you, guys.

My health? Well, I can add another surgery to my list of achievements. Finally had the herniated disc in my back operated on last year. The bulge was getting so bad that it was pressing my spinal cord into my vertebrae and causing so much pain that I couldn't stand up. The doctor did a great job, and I actually walked out of the surgical center on my own two feet later that day.

So far, I haven't had any signs of cancer relapse, which is good. I can't say I'm in great health, though. I've gained more weight than I should have, and I haven't really been able to lose any significant amount of it. Been having some knee pain recently, too. I feel like I'm falling apart some days, and I'm only 35.

My job isn't helping matters, either. I need a new one. Hopefully I can find something better soon.

Sounds painful, im guessing the weight gain is probably from the drugs you've needed to take to control the pain?

Also only 33 myself, its seems once you go over 30 then the weight gain starts, although the doctor did put me on steroids for a short while to me getting an asthma diagnosis.

I'm sure it's a combination of several things. Metabolism slowing down with age. Inability to exercise as much because of back pain, knee pain, and fear of hurting myself from overexertion. Higher cost and more hassle involved with healthy eating.

When I get home from work, the last thing I want to do is exercise or spend a lot of time trying to prepare healthy food for dinner. I just want to sit on my butt and eat something easy.
