Pick Your :winamp:

Winamp has certainly made some interesting changes and additions over the years. Are these changes for the better… well that all depends on who you ask. So I ask you which version Winamp are you currently running on your computer and why… that’s if your running Winamp at all

------------
Im currently running winamp 5.13, for it is compatible with all my fav plug-in's, has a fast and familiar shoutcast search engine, and doesn’t seem to prompt as many alerts from my firewall as the lastest winamp offering.

I had to roll 5.2 back because it has so many dumb ideas in it. Moving from the grid format to the line format for the Shoutcast radio was a brainfart. Unlike the Winamp guys to get it this wrong.

Where's the Winamp3 option?

When I'm using Winamp it's the latest one (not interested in shoutcast).

Where's the Winamp 0.2 option? All other versions are just bloatware.

I'm still on 5.13 i loaded 5.2 but the media library is crap IMO, the fact it uses IE make winamp use loads more resources than it needs, and the winshade button has made my skins look pants

Of all the versions I've used, and based on my own needs in a media player/library, I've noticed no significant differences between versions, to be honest. They all work nicely for me.

Most recently, I bought WA Pro 5.13, so I could have an easier-to-use high-speed burner than that stupid Windows Media Player. Have to say I'm very happy with it.

There's a Winamp 5.2? *goes to download*

Maybe I'm wrong, but using the lastest version can be safer than olders..mostly to those that we have internet connection

In this case it definitely is, at least compared to versions before 5.13.

multi-user support doesn't grab my attention as i'm the only one that uses my computer. the new shoutcast thing in the ML i don't like very much but then i don't use shoutcast very much. i'm happy with winamp 5.2

I found v5.2 very nice. I might buy Pro sometime to show support but like Scor said I've found all WinAmp versions to be well done right back until the 2.6 days when I started using it.

It seems a fair share of fourmers have upgraded to the most recent build. Its a move that’s easy to understand as 5.2 has some very welcome improvements. Further its rough edges are currently being smoothed out so its only a matter of time before most animosities with 5.2 are resolved. In regards to the poll I did not expect any of the educated formers to be using any builds previous to 5.0, but I am curious as to which media players thoughts who have left winamp are using .

Winamp3 is now known as Wasabi so people that are still using it would chose the “I don’t use winamp” option.

I would hope so, my mention of firewall alerts was mostly in regard to the fact that winamp attempts to connect to the internet more frequently when I was using 5.2… even when I was not using the internet features. Also the decision to use IE for shoutcast which is directly tied into the OS and which is often associated with security exploits is a bit concerning.
