Becomes even better than it is, both community and player.
Off course we'll have new technologies 'till them, and Winamp will just absorb all of 'em ! I Love You Ana Luiza MSN ![]() |

How the hell can you have one poll for two questions? Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick.
The search for the ultimate signature continues apace. I have journeyed from the peaks of Nepal to the depths of oceanic trenches. I have crossed deserts, jungles, swamps, savannas, steppes and frozen wastelands. I have consulted with seers, swamis, sages, scholars and savants. The peregrination proceeds purposefully. |

People will always want alternatives regardless of how good the propriatary software is. Will it still be Winamp? Who knows. Will these forum be here in 10 years? Who knows. Who knows if the way we use computers may be far more interactive than simply viewing some avi or mpeg files through some media players.
We can't predict the future, all we can do is wonder and hope. |

We wont need media players by then. The media conglomerates will be able to beam signals into our brain and make us listen to what they want. There will be no choice but it will end piracy. It will cost 5.00 a month and you will have to get a funny antenna installed on your head.

just look back at what the computing was like 10 years ago and measure it out. I don't expect much difference. Just smaller devices.

doubt devices will be anything like what they are now to the point that winamp is worthwhile. frankly.

Winamp will expand and produce portable players for your car...
Moves on to other market areas, challenges iPod... Personally, I see the Winamp brand either being enveloped into a more generic AOL Music format, to compliment the surely (if they havent already got one) upcoming AOL Music Download center, an attempt to rival the Itunes / Napster format. If anything, the main code for Winamp will just be incorporated into something like that.
As for the forums, they will eventually be folded. I cannot see Microsoft taking over Winamp, or buying it out as the case would be, because it just wouldnt make any sense at all to do so. |

winamp will most likely become obsolete in 10 years and people will gradually leave the forums.

Well alot of people who come here do not do so because of Winamp. It's usually the initial reason they come here, but alot of members who post in RB, GD etc. treat this like any other internet forum.. it just happens to exist because of a media player.
If eight years from now someone decides there is no need for these forums.. I get the feeling the members here will just move on to another forum (think pabook or something). Just because http://forums.winamp.com dies, does not mean the Winamp Forums will die. But like i've said, there is no point trying to predict what is to come. When it comes it comes.. and the state of my favorite forum doesn't come close to topping my list of things to worry about for the future. |

Within ten years Microsoft will buy AOL away from Time/Warner and the last version of Winamp, 10.09 ("twice as good as WA 5"), will become Windows Media Player 15.
These forums will become a stuffy Microsoft online community and all the fun people will leave. But I'll still be here posting pics of my manb00bs. (But keep in mind I'll be ten years older and my manb00bs will therefore have ten more years of sag.) ![]() I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash. |

Microsoft will have eliminated or assimilated all competing software companies through its distro following longhorn called OMNIdos that integrates every conceivable type of software into the OS (much like their inclusion of IE, WMP, MSNIM to capture market dominance they suffocate all alternatives). The successor to xbox 360 named Big-Brother comes with the successor to OMNIdos named Omniscient is now the sole source for home computing and entertainment. Now with all alternatives smothered they decide to charge licensing fees for each and every service and software included with the Omniscient OS. Further passing of the Patriot Act II necessitates that a Big-Brother be in every domicile and its included wireless cameras be installed in every room, Read 1984 and/or a brave new world to see how it progresses from there.
