I know what it is, haha. I know EVERY bad guy in Zelda 1, although I might not know them al by heart anymore, but each of them appears once in Zelda Amp 1 ver 2.9, lol. :PIMP: http://www.1001winampskins.com/skin_...l?skin_id=3023 Three of your dudes are in the EQ, lol. And since Halloween is over I'll change my icon too, ironically to one based on who I was for halloween... And how about using those projected fractals and shaving cream someplace?

Isn't it a Dodongo or something? I just remember you have to hit it with bombs to the face.

Good job Xerxes, here it is as promised - Here's the latest. I have learned so much about PSP from this skin. Especially the omnipotent power of the dropshadow and the Gaussian Blur. I think the cursors are turning well: that is a cursor in the playlist. I thought these cbuttons were respectable now. Let me know if I'm going too far with the cables and pipes and such. Don't know how much is too much at the moment.

Just remember what the wise old man said, "Dodongo dislikes smoke"

The cables and pipes are great!
I love the style of the cbuttons although they look a little pale to me...
Anyone else who thinks they could have a little color?

Alrighty, here's the layout. I still need to skin the sliders and do a lot of tweaking, but let me know what you think of the skin as a whole. Yeah Luigi I thought about using fractals, but didn't really have a place on the main 3 windows. MBinner perhaps? Does someone want to skin the winshade modes for me I never have enough incentive to do them because I don't use it.

here's a preview skin. I'm drawing a blank for a few of the components, like the posbar. Let me know if anyone thinks of any good ideas for components, or the rest of the windows like the MB or Video.

PS, it looks much better with the oscilliscope instead of the bars

looks pretty good. My thoughts:

-I find the cursors annoying - like almost all animated, non-arrow cursors. I would have some cool animated cursors, but only for the less-used areas (eg. mainmenu, close, songname, etc.)

-I think the text that appears on the paint barrels (?) should be a different colour - the black is too hard to make out - maybe orange or dark blue, for example?

-the eq sliders - can you make them more prominent?

-vis (bars): would probably look better with a two tone (by two-tone I mean something like what is in this screenshot)

-you probably haven't gotten to the easter egg yet, but at the moment, it has the old line-shift bug.

-shufrep: make more stuff happen in the animation, plus more relevant to the function of the buttons? (eg. the shuffle button could have lights arranged in a row inside the red tube which then become all scattered when you turn shuffle on)

-/\\/X buttons almost impossible to make out on my monitor. Maybe make them white instead of red.

-cool volume, but maybe make the borders of the box that it's in more prominent. ditto with time/nums display (on main and in PL)

-maybe have the letters "bal" written subtly on the wall (in a faint grey, for example), to be obscured by the yellow steam. That way, when the balance is centered, you still have a good idea where to click and the component wouldn't sort of 'disappear' like it does now.

-I think it would look better with more textureand less defined edges (ie. less of a 'polygon graphics' look) on the floors and walls.

The Blue Man Group is a sort of musical performance art group. They do mostly percussion on all sorts of crazy "instruments," including such things as tubes with various amounts of water in them. I've never seen them, though, so perhaps someone else could give more details.

I used a lot of your suggestions and I think it helped the overall appearance. I especially agreed about the stacks and the close/minimize buttons. I'm not quite sure what you mean by making the eq sliders more prominent though, if you could explain. As for the polygon graphics, I was trying to use something similar to some of the graphics they use to advertise for the Complex tour. I included one such pic. I think I will include the animated cursors in a file in the skin file, so people can use them if they want. I think people who have been to the concert would get a kick out of them

ok, I've seen the pic, and I totally see what you mean about the polygon graphics thing. My only subsequent comment about it would be that it might be cool if you could incorporate some sky into the skin (like the gradient-sky in the pic) to give it some more overall depth

The EQ sliders look good, and they fit well. Though, from a functionality point of view, I think they could be better. It's often important to be able to glance at the EQ and have an immediate visual idea of how it's set up, so that you can then compare that to the music that you're hearing, and decide what needs adjusting - what might be being under-amped and what is being over-amped. It's a little hard to get a good idea of all the eq sliders on your skin at a very quick glance, because, while they stick out a little bit from the pipes, they are identical or near-identical to those other bits (ie. the joins which connect the curved piping with the straight piping). If you could make the sliders slightly different from those other joins, it would probably be better. For example, you could make the sliders a bit bigger, or those other joins a bit smaller, or make the sliders slightly different colours to the other joins, or put cracks in the sliders and not the joins, etc. etc....if you follow me....

I hate to disagree with Stillwater, because usually that means that I'm wrong
These EQ sliders are great! Please don't change a pixel!
The minimize buttons are yummy.. this black/grey/red contrast looks so cool on my TFT display..
But yeah.. some subtle gradients like in the screenshot would maybe kick it up a notch.
Looks like this is gonna be my favourite skin for a while.

Glad I could help... Why not have static normal cursors, and have the head move for things like the volume and eq bars etc.?

Do you mean keep the little guy and have him static most of the time, or just use regular triangular cursors?

I think he meant have a static guy for the 'normal' cursors (ie. normal.cur, eqnormal.cur, etc.) and have his head move for some of the other ones.

Though I would add (to what I said before) that cursors that are like that can be very annoying (for me, at least). The cursor is in a way the thing that you see most of in a skin, and the novelty of any kind of funky picture or design wears of very quickly with it, and you're often left navigating around the skin with something that is distracting.

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.

Yeah, looking at it more subjectively I saw that it's a bit flat, so I added a few gradients like you guys suggested. This pic is just an experiment with the gradients and is not polished. Let me know which ones to keep or where there should be one. And should I make the border between the walls and the back wall darker, since the gradient makes the corner the same color as the wall at that point? Does that make sense?

Alright, cleaned things up a bit and skinned the gradients. I can't decide on whether to have the text glowing or keep it discreet. I also realize that both versions might entirely suck. So comment on anything you like, but above all be honest

Looks like everyone is tired of commenting on this skin, and understandably so Just one more before it's published though, I promise. Things I would especially appreciate suggestions about:

-The cursor (could only include the normal.cur)
-Do I need something more obvious for the shuf/rep
-any suggestions for the on/off or preset in the eq

I had to leave a lot out because of file size, but hopefully this gives the basic idea . . .

I like the gradients.
ShufRep states could be more obvious.
They were better in the earlier version.
I've been a little busy lately, not tired of commenting

This is the skin I am using since you put up the first test version of it
Love it!

In case you guys care, this skin is now posted at 1001ws and is waiting to be approved here.

Thanks zwylle I added some little lights that hopefully make it easier to see the button state. Sorry SW, I have the animated cursors as the default, but I included directions for how to alleviate that annoyance in the readme if people don't want them. You will also be happy to hear that I made them more static I Hope the somewhat-final product is decent.

i am completely satisfied with the volume....its cool, original and very smooth....and the explosive spray effect on the stacks/balance actually work very well too.

and although some of the buttons are very subtle, its still very usable.

good work
