Load songs into Winamp's playlist.
Sort them how you want.

I should have mentioned I already know about winamp's list feature. It's come in handy many times, but I was wondering if there was anything with more features

You can use the winamp plugin Playlist Seperator to insert tags like **I_AM_A_TAG** and **/I_AM_A_TAG** in your playlist. Output the playlist to html and then replace the tags with font/colour tags and you have a nicer looking list that can include album titles etc. Depending on what options you set in Playlist Seperator depends on how nice you can get it.

I made this a little while ago with a minimum of fuss. It can be made better with like removing the numbers/resetting them for each album, but I didn't look that far into the plugin.

You can always just use Winamp, change the Playlist settings, output as webpage, save that, edit with batch file to change the layout.

Or, I can download a program that does it all for me?

Wow you guys are really trying to sell Winamp. Would I be on this forum if I didn't know about Winamp already? I've used it since like 1998 before it was 1.0, I know what it is capable of and it's not what I need in this situation.

Again.. does anyone know of any apps to create an attractive list of my mp3s to put on my website. Something configurable, maybe even a search engine?

Usually people configure that sort of thing themselves, or they pay people to do it.

The hell you talkin bout? You want me to pay someone to make me an mp3 list? And what do you want me to configure, I don't HAVE anything to configure.

Look, guys, its real simple. Either you know of software that can help me make a nice looking mp3 list for my website, or you DON'T. Don't ask me to make something myself or pay someone to do it for me. Don't tell me Winamp does what I want it to do, because it DOESN'T.

Wow.

How do you want it to appear?

Suburbia: The place where they clear down trees and then name roads after them

Well, what would I want? What would be perfect is this:

An alphabetical list of artists, which you would click on and it would show all of my playlists (or albums) for that artists. Then you click on the album and it shows the CD cover and a track listing, and a link to allmusic.com or a similar website. Categories showing year and genre would be great too.

A search feature by year, artist, album, etc. Whatever can be considered a search term.

And statistics. The date the list was updated, number of albums featured, etc.

Basically you want a database constructed with all of the information about all of the songs in your playlist.

Thats an awful lot of work.

Yer, sounds like you'll need to use PHP and Sql to do a database. Uhhh, maybe check out some blogging scripts to find something similar.

Well, my last post is what my ideal would be.. it doesn't have to be that elaborate. I realize a search function will require a database.

I've been wanting to read up on SQL and Perl, maybe this will give me an excuse to do it...

http://tellini.info/software/mp3cat/

This will give you a comma delimited database (CSV) generated from MP3 track tags, it should be trivial with Perl or PHP to make what you want. Mysqladmin or access will read CSV data.

It also exports text and html files.

Another thing you might look at is edna. Edna is a MP3 server.
Sort of like mp3toolbox, except edna works right. In python.
