there was one sign error with the bounce on the left border and i also reworked the collision detection - not to mention some composite shader action.

there's a work in progress - the blue channel is still unused. but i think this one is still worth a upload.

dammit, i fixed one sign error but produced another one
now this one looks most convincing to me.
you can fix the template by mashing the motion/equations from this preset to it.(if you want to produce remixes)

sometimes things flow to me and i just can't disguise.
again i reinforced the original bouncing cubes by reclaiming the full screen and doing some great shading effects.

huh, this one is featuring a very old per-vertex code from my very first milkdrop days and one idea from the first mindblob attempt and a lot of error diffusion.

and finally i want to say thank you to all my fans

omg this is the best forum ever! This is such a unique community of people. Flexi, i hope you realize what an icon you are for this community. And everyone else that takes time to post (while not drunk ) has recently contributed profound work for us all to enjoy. I too have been doing much practice and getting help from my room mate.

Slowed down my posts, as i have been actually trying to learn, but i have made lots and i have a lot of really good md1 stuff for those uf us that dont always have access to a decent computer...

i have so much to say but i am honestly speechless from the overstimulation i just got from this board, so i will leave it at a simple Thank You All!

ps. Flexi, i love the Douglas Adams quote, this is my wrist

is that a tattoo? - nice one.
I really loved the 'Hitchhikers Guide To Galaxy', but i also enjoyed the 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency' and 'Last chance to see' - On a symbolic level it's all just so familiar, he's an ingenious author. (Or you can say, he's one of the finest experiments of the mice)

For some reason, that last batch of presets somehow always runs out of fuel for me - I suddenly sit there staring at a blank screen after the effects have peeled away.

Other than that, your presets make my skin curl. In a good way. Keep up the excellent work.

ouch, what a video card are you running these presets on?
check out the last line of the warp shader, at the end there's a random increment of ~0.004 can you please raise this value to the point where no blank screen appears?

shit, it took me quite a long time to figure out a setting where it just manages to live on on its own and this is somewhere at 0.00393 ...at least on my machine...

thanks for you feedback though - oh, and the leopard skin preset is cool

Well, I'm still bound to a subpar laptop with an Ati Radeon X1700 atm, and the preset barely clings to life at a value of about .0049-.005, and starts thriving around 0.0051-0.0052.

Also, check this out... fiddled with that rippling, and...

In fact I have the same effect, all of these latest presets fading to almost black within a few seconds on my Nvidia GeForce 7600. Need to set the factor c1 in "Flexi-Mom.." to a value above 0.2 to see something.

I guess this has to do with the product-specific implementation of the GetBlur1-Algorithm. Alternatively, there might be an issue with the floating point precision - even if all manufacturers use 16 bit float (or whatever), there will be subtle differences in rounding, truncating etc., which may become relevant for instance when we subtract very small values from larger ones. Which however does not seem to be the case in the "mom..." preset.

Anyway, a potential way to overcome numerical precision problems particularly in the warp shader (such as caused by ret = .99*ret - .001) may be to actually use a larger subtract value but then to invoke the calculation not for every frame. For instance, define a variable q32=frame%10 in the per frame equations and then use ret = .99*ret - .01*q32. The result is that .01 will be subtracted in every tenth frame instead of .001 in every frame. This works, although it may cause some noticeable flicker in very smooth presets... Not sure if it would do the trick here.

i noticed some difference in the floating point precision between my both ATI cards (Radeon9700 on my Notebook) too, but the last preset here was fine on both ones. (except the 18fps on the old 9700).

i hope the 'decay swing' runs fine with Nvidia cards - that one took me some very fine tuning.

thx for your feedback

Yes, it does. Migraine and design by contract however fade to (almost) black. My favs are the witchery themes - they run perfectly on Nvidia.
