How do I stream audio to winamp so I can use it as a visualizer only?

Hi all

First time post here --- I've been a winamp user forever ... and I love the visual plug-ins.

Today my house audio is centralized around my Yamaha deck ... however I would love to be able to stream audio to a PC running winamp so that winamp could ingest the audio stream and push out a visual --- milkdrop or something.

Is this possible? .. what plug-in would I be looking at to ingest the audio stream from the Yamaha deck?

Hello darkstaff,

although I had to give up with Mixlr because of their New Pricing Plan, my blog in Last.fm could be useful for You:
My blog contains many other important links, also to a few other forum threads.

I hope, You have "Stereomix" on Your PC or You will be able to get it. Then You can play the URL "linein://" in Winamp (the in_linein.dll is a standard-plugin of Winamp), and the visualizer should react to the music from each sound source. Of course You can connect also Your Hifi Systems or a music studio mixer with Your PC via the linein-jack. The URL "linein://" is also a very good feature for the musicians, if they want to make live concerts, and for the DJs, if they want to make live events with 2 computers (1 with Traktor Pro, 1 with Winamp).

I am enjoying "website music" with Milkdrop 2 very often...

Edit: This is the direct link to one of the other forum threads:
