SpringAmp - Introudcing a skin I have created

Below is a screen-shot of a skin for Winamp version 2.x which I have created.

SpringAmp is a Winamp skin that I had made out of a picture which my sister had drawn while my brother had originally come up with the idea of turning the picture into a skin.
The colours and the artwork reflect the moods of spring, hence the name.

It is available for free download at: DOWNLOAD SpringAmp

From the above site one can also download the skin maker I used to create this skin.

Hope you like it.

I'd like it if it hadn't just been pushed through a skin maker.

Wow, how long was it since we had one like this actually in the forums?

This is certainly lot more than simply pushing through a skin maker!

We actually drew the image ourself.
And then spent hours adjusting the scrollbar so that the image is repeated consistently. Same for the equalizer.

You should actually download the free skin before passing any nasty comments.

You should have spent some more hours then finishing the skin up, making your own controls etc rather then just using the default skin maker ones, a program I might point out that you even advertise on your download site.

You could have also spent a few more hours skinning all the windows you missed out media lib, video, gen windows etc etc.

Sorry, but I doubt you will get much in the way of praise around here for using a skinning tool to make a skin that is then half finished, which if you submit to the winamp.com skin database will be rejected for being incomplete.

Nice concept, getting the picture drawn, terrible execution unfortunately.

I mean no disrespect, the concept is wonderful however the execution fails miserably in consideration of the tool used to finalize your skin.

As jones said the initial reaction to skins designed using a skinner.exe tool are always treated with disgust as they have all be done before. Generally, what a beginning skinner would do is use the tool to identify positions and locations rather than as a standard for the skin.

However, that was in the early days rather than something we use today...we generally use a template (skinners atlas). Which provides the same benefits without the crappy transparent overlayed controls.

You may think that we are being overly negative, however you must consider the fact that for a very long time about 90% of submissions (approximation) were done using that very tool.

If you want a submission that both inspires the creativity of the community, gives you praise for your attempt, and helps you along your way - it is always beneficial to attempt to do it yourself than feed your images through a program that does it for you.

My, this has become quite the active forum in the past few days!

Keep up the effort! The main reason I started making skins without a Skinner tool was because I couldn't work the darn thing.
