Strange volume meter behaviour

When using Winamp and have the winamp window active in windows.I get strange behaviour of the volume meter which wasn't present until 5.0(porhaps som late RC release). For example, if I have the winamp volume meter at max from the
last time I used winamp and the Windows Master volume at only 50% and have winamp active and turn the volume knob on my Multimedia Keyboard the volume is stuck and can't get any higher. The only way to raise the volume is to either lower winamp volume meter with the mouse.

As I see it there are a couple possible solutions to this, either as in Windows Media Player, there the volume meter doesn't respond to turning of the volume knob and only the Master volume is changed even if the WMP window is active. Another possible solution would be to make the winamp volume be synced with the Master volume, if possible..

not absolutely positive about this but you may have the volume knob mapped in the global hotkeys.

I mapped all of the media keys on my Dell Enhanced KB except for the volume knob which controls system volume only.

I wouldn't want Winamp volume to be synched with the master volume. Imagine you try to turn down Winamp to hear the sounds from your game, and your game gets softer too! WiMP behaves this way (at least the WiMP embed in K-Lite does), and I strongly dislike it. But I've never been one to refuse more options, just give us the ability to turn it off

There may be something in the DirectSound output that'll fix it - best bet.

ok, I see your point

But setting it back to the earlier behaviour, where the winamp volume doesn't react to volume knob(Master Volume..?) change..?

I wasn't aware it ever behaved that way. Neither the waveOUT nor the DirectSound plugins behave that way. Was this in 2.95?

in preferences, under global hotkeys. look through the list of hotkeys (if they are enabled) remove - playback: volume up and playback: volume down if they are mapped to your volume knob.

if this doesn't work, try reinstalling winamp 5

Found the problem..

The reason it has started adapting this behaviour is this plugin. I just had to uncheck enable volume control and the problem was out of my world!

The plugin is great otherwise! No more iTouch!
