NSIS Script

Man any half baked monkey could write that script it was as gay as ass.

I don't have it to hand here, but never fear I will recode it straight into this editor!

Things to consider:

* You must have permission for each skin in a pack to be in the pack and on my site. sure you all appreciate this.
* Please include the bulk of the readme.txt that is in the Jayn pack.
* In a skin pack for multi-authors the end stuff with the skin list should make credit clear, and link to the author, or their skin or something.

Anyway here it is:
code:

; mikroamp-skinpackexample.nsi
;
; This script will generate an installer that installs a MikroAMP skin pac;.
; It also puts a license page on, for shits and giggles.
;
; Based on waplugin.nsi - by justin
;
; This installer will only run if a valid winamp install is found.
;

; The name of the installer
Name "MikroAMP Skin Pack n - Theme Name"

; The file to write
OutFile "MikroAMPSkinPackn-themename.exe"

; License page
LicenseText "This installer will install Skin Pack n for MikroAMP. Please read the information below."
; use the default makensis license
LicenseData d:\stuff\mikro-jayn\readme.txt

; The default installation directory
InstallDir $PROGRAMFILES\Winamp
; detect winamp path from uninstall string if available
InstallDirRegKey HKLM \
"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Winamp" \
"UninstallString"

; The text to prompt the user to enter a directory
DirText "Please select your Winamp path below (you will be able to proceed when Winamp is detected):"
; Note we are NOT showing this folder browser today.
DirShow hide

; automatically close the installer when done.
AutoCloseWindow true
; hide the "show details" box
ShowInstDetails nevershow

Function .onVerifyInstDir
IfFileExists $INSTDIR\Winamp.exe Good
Abort
Good:
FunctionEnd

Function QueryWinampSkinPath ; sets $1 with vis path
StrCpy $1 $INSTDIR\Skins
; use SkinDir instead of VISDir to get skins plugins directory
ReadINIStr $9 $INSTDIR\winamp.ini Winamp SkinDir
StrCmp $9 "" End
IfFileExists $9 0 End
StrCpy $1 $9 ; update dir
End:
FunctionEnd

; The stuff to install
Section "ThisNameIsIgnoredSoWhyBother?"
Call QueryWinampSkinPath
SetOutPath $1\MikroAMP\Jayn

; Files to extract
File "d:\stuff\Mikro-jayn\*"
SectionEnd

; eof

It assumes you're building a skin pack and all skin bitmaps and the readme are in the folder:
d:\stuff\mikro-jayn

obviously you'll need to change that and the stuff at the top about the pack id etc.

Each skin pack should install to a seperate subfolder of MikroAMP in the skins folder (so the readme.txt's and thus skinner credit do not get lost.

Mr Jones,

I can either totally host them or link them from your site.

Either is fine.

If you post me the URL's I'll add them to the downloads system now, then when I get back to the office/home I'll download them and host them on my domain and move the download links to point at them there if you like, or leave them hosted on yours.

Either is good by me.

BTW script is for NSIS 1.42 or greater. (1.43 is latest)

Pack it in !

mkayyyyyy,

here's the links to the first pack I've put together, could you snag them off here Mike and host the exe's over with the rest of your mikro stuff, not sure how long I'm gonna be on this server, so best off being direct from yourself.

Link time....
Chick pack Collection chick skins from myself and Duk

PHOOOEEEEY! Featuring the number 1 hero guy himself

The Beatles Self explaining, small pack for the Beatles fans out there

Jones junk The rest of the crap that was left over of mine

Still to do, weekend project, the Star Wars pack, Time permitting I'll try do this over the weekend.

I've tested these Exe's out on my system, all seems well, but I'm sure I've missed something, always the case.

Back to lunch...

Just added them to my download system, but not hosted them yet.

I've not been back to the office this lunch time (just the pub ) I'll see if I can get them onto my site over the weekend, it will probably be Sunday tho. But the download count starts now

Ah yes, for the pack, butttttttttttttt, All the ones on Jayns page are still fucked, plus the million or so that are in circulation with my skins are still fucked, and more importantly all the ones on my hard drive at home are still fucked, and I can way not be bothered to fix the archives, all that buggering around changing to zip yada yada yada

So mondo 80 mode is still the way to go for me

Flatmatt and BG editions will be posted as soon as I get at the machine with the code on, so probably Tuesday or Wednesday.

Glad you like it Jayn, now I just need to install Winamp, mikroamp and some skins at home!

Do I complain too much?

Just out of curiousity, why is mine called Meddling Kids while everyone else's is called by their names?

And where did you get the URL? Uhhhhh, the new one's http://www.flatmatt.com (I'm not complaining!)

Um

Because I made the other editions in one go, and yours I made while the net connection was down on a different machine whilst in a rush

Tommorow when I get into the office I'm going to fix it.

See MikroJAYN is short, so is MikroJONES and MikroDUK and MikroKIDS but MikroFLATMATT isn't.

And I got the url from the winamp.com site where your skin was. I'll fix it all tommorow.

I'm creating lots of nice "rare collector's editions" by being crap and making mistakes. Things that were made by mistake are worth a look, mauritus blue. The guy who made the thing print up-sidedown probably was sacked at the time now it's the most valuable stamp in the world

Interestingly MikroAMP standard has finally overtaken Duk edition as the most downloaded MikroAMP. I guess there are too many Anime fans out there!

And the Jayn skin pack is more popular than the Chicks skin pack.

And 41 people have downloaded SMO since I ported to my download tracker. And there are no apps that you can skin with that that are passed beta!

WOW, I've just viewed the download pages for the various versions of MikroAMP/skin packs, must say it's very pleasing to see the ammount of downloads the whole project is getting

Damd proud to have been associated with this, damd proud .

Is 2.50 subbed over at winamp yet? and have you considered subbing the skin packs as well?, I know they are not strictly a plug in as such, more of a plug in for a plug in, but it would get them to a wider audience, I'd be interested if you did, I have a similar DFX skin pack sat at home that I was considering subbing to winamp, seeing as how DFX seem to have given up on skins, thought this might be a good way to get them out, I can see the Mikropacks working in the same way..

Just a thought anyhow

Hmm now that is an interesting idea.

I have subbed 2.50 to the site. I normally get Denny to rush it through and get it live as a favour, but I think I've used all my favours up cos it's still not up on the site.

Perhaps when it's up live I'll submit a skin pack to see if it gets accepted.

Have you considered making your contribution to the MikroAMP skin pack fun?, there are enough of them out there to make some groovy packs.

If enougth of you want it, I'll compile the pack for you, just let me know what mikro's you would like putting in them, So calling Lynx, cappy, xerxes, bullgawd, rikki, flatmatt, dawg and anyone else I've missed want your stuff turning into a pack??????

Would you let me know what you get back on that, I have a interest in plug in skins as mentioned before with the DFX packs I have done as well as the MikroAMP packs, I see a whole new section within the plug in section

Official answer is goahead, they'll be treated like AVS packs.

I've submitted skin pack 1, but I'm too lazy to create the component images to go with the other skin packs.

Here are the images for skin pack 1:

if you want to speed things up you could make images for the other packs for me...

Heh, cool, I shall make that my task for today, images for the other packs.

Quick questions,
what categories did you submit them under??,
are you gonna sub the other pack, or do you want the local authors to do it, easier to update that way, but either works for me
oh and does this apply to DFX skin packs as well?

Back to the day job
