DNAS version ? since if it's 2.4.7 then i'd expect it's issue #3 from http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=373139#known

The last one where i noticed a fast and unclear sound, the issue was based on the different encodings of the mp3 files. Could it be that the affected files have a variable bitrate (vbr) instead of a constant bitrate? If yes try to re-encode the songs with a constant bitrate.

Again, i meant the type of bitrate and not the kbit value. There is difference between CBR and VBR...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_bitrate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constant_bitrate

If the affected file is encoded with VBR (variable bitrate) then you have to re-encode it to CBR (constant bitrate). Normally you should see it in winamp if the the file has a variable bitrate.

CBR / VBR doesn't matter as the Source DSP is only working with the decoded data i.e. it's taking PCM data so the original encoding method is not really important.

if the mode change didn't help then it's most likely down to the Source DSP not correctly handling the input media and / or a Winamp encoding issue (e.g. running Winamp in 24-bit mode or working with 48kHz media - which the Source DSP is known to have issues with).

so other than checking what the sample rate of the input files is (to see if the 48kHz aspect might be the issue), then it's probably something with Winamp & / or Source DSP at fault (especially if it's working ok for some media).

No he has been reassigned to winamp.

DrO and I have always had a friendly banter in the shoutcast forums. He has been reassigned to winamp forums a while back when radionomy took over.
