I gots me a car, yay

I mentioned I was looking at cars a while ago in another thread. Back then I pointed to some old Datsuns I was loooking at. In the end I didn't get anything that stylish, but I did get a car that's cheap, reliable, and a bit newer (1988), a Mazda 323 GL. My first real car, previously I always drove my parent's car, and then I was out of the country for a year. Yeah it's not amazing, but it's in really good condition, and it's a car, which is awesome.

Good luck with it.

My first car was an 81 Tercel that my parents had bought new at the time and then gave it to me for my birthday present when I turned sixteen... jeebus, that was in 1995!

Any hoo, as long as your car gets you where you need to go reliably...

my first car was an 87 Sable. I bought it from my parents for a dollar, also in 1995.

I got that thing airborne a time or two.

Okay, so I created a "what was your first car?" thread.

I'd be nice if my car was $1. I can't afford it now so I basically have a loan from my parents, which I'll pay back as I can.

Oh as an aside story, I had to get new numberplates because the old owner had personalised ones (and wanted to keep them). So they sent the new plates, and the sticker for the car.

But on the sticker, the plate was one letter different, and apparently I had a 2005 Holden Rodeo. Now, it'd be nice to have a 2005 Holden Rodeo, but I don't. So anyway I had to get that fixed, but I don't know what the real Rodeo owner got, probably a sticker for a 1988 Mazda.

I have no problem with older cars (80's I mean). If they are in good condition and you put some tint and decent rims/hubs on them, they can be nice.

However, you just can't be cool in a hatchback, which is more or less what this car is.

Having said that, it's not a bad car though - have fun with it. (And don't take my hatchback comments personally )

He owns an "aluminum deathtrap" because he worked for it and it is a good car.

If you have a problem, ask him for his paypal account and you can pay for a better car for him, since you seem to be so concerned with what he is driving.

I never liked the backs of the Mazda 323 either, even more so in the early 90s models, where it looks out of place. Stick a higher power engine in there and it'll fly though.

yeah, i'm back.

It's a 1988 and it's still running and looks good. That's more than I can say of a lot of cars I've seen. If it was too shitty it would be in a junkyard..
