The only new feature is the ability to give your themes names with foreign characters (but that's more of a 5.22+ feature than something added to the color editor)

I guess I'll have to wait for the new version of COlor Editor, I installed 2.02 and now in my right click box under "equilizer" it has six of these --> □ and when I click on them it opens a box titled ":componenttitle"
I have version version 5.22 and I guess this nifty tool is outdated.

5.23 won't load the old Colour Editor (which was broken in 5.22 already, see the post above yours).

However an updated version should be released shortly.

Hopefully there'll be a proper installer soon, and maybe even hosted on download.nullsoft.com, but this will have to do for now.

Unzip to "Winamp\Plugins\freeform\wacs\coloreditor"

@ osmosis

I don't even know what "leechbite's text value hack" is, so can't answer your question (edit: I guess not then, heh).

_______________________________________________________

[Edit 21st June]

Uploaded it again, just incase I uploaded an older version last time, heh.
Though as far as I know, it was the correct, latest, working version,
so I'm not sure what you're doing wrong (ie. it works fine here).

Make sure coloreditor.wac is in the freeform\wacs\coloreditor folder
and THIS coloreditor.xml is in the freeform\wacs\coloreditor\xml folder,
and that you're using Winamp 5.24 & gen_ff v1.21 (or newer)

whoops, there's an updated bugfix of his hack. i'll see if there's a good way to edit it in, but i think someone official should accept his addition and possibly implement it slightly better.

Coloreditor makes Winamp crash

I downloaded the coloreditor and the extended fix - and Winamp keeps crashing when I try to change anything.

Any ideas of what is wrong?

I'm not sure, but it seems that Save button is not working. If it works, please tell me the path. When I restart the skin (F5) there are no themes made with color editor (If I'm not mistaken, they were with previous version). It seems that the only way to save is to download the bugfix and use Export button.

the hack doesn't work with the new version because it was made for the old one, i was only pointing it out because i was suggesting to egg that it be incorporated into the new version.

nah, it's not part of something the general user population would want, so it shouldn't be included with the winamp installer, that would only be adding more unnecessary bloat for many. the devs should fix the bugs previously stated and also work in their own version of leechbite's offset number patch/hack then release it on winamp.com like they were planning.

Bump

Okay, I've tried putting it everywhere but it's not showing up

I made a theme and I exported it as the xml. Where do I put the xml to load the colors on another computer?

I tried
Winamp/Plugins/Colorthemes/XML Here
Winamp/Plugings/Colorthemes/ThemeName/XML Here

Neither worked

Can anyone help me?
Note: I'll give ya the xml for helping me =D

I think you should put your XML file in plugins\ColorThemes\your_skin_name

hope this works

Do I make a folder in plugin folder called ColorThemes and put the XML inside that?

After that, I close, reopen winamp and the color theme will be with my skin's other color themes??

Color Editor crashes on XP64 with Winamp 5.35

People may not be actively working on this anymore, but I know it was recompiled once a few versions ago, so maybe...

At work I have 5.35 with Windows XP Pro, the Color Editor works perfectly. At home the only difference is Windows XP Pro 64-bit, and the Color Editor fails. The failure is trying to find msvcp71.dll.

msvcp71.dll does not normally exist on 64-bit systems

That, which here at work is in the C:\i386 and C:\WINDOWS\system32 directories on my standard Windows XP install, is only in a few program folders on my Windows XP 64-bit machine.

According to some web digging, it seems this may be for the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime. As swell as that is, it seems to be core to many applications running in 32-bit windows, but not in 64-bit.

I will play around moving it from folder to folder later, but would there be a way to remove the reference from the Color Editor instead? Based on this thread: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=270073, it seems that the normal winamp response is not to dynamically link to this .dll

No go

So it seems if I copy msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll into my C:\Program Files(x86)\Winamp directory from other installed software I can use the color editor.

The issue is, these are not core dlls, and are not normally found on x64 installs of Windows, aside from my having other software which installed this before, where would these come from? They seem to normally be on 32bit WIndows installs, or at least the few I have access to.

those dlls aren't standard on any OS install from my understanding and generally should be redistributed by the app/software itself or provide a link to a redist package.

from a quick check, the dependancy is due to the memory management features with the vs2003 compiler and is a relatively easy thing to fix (would just need a recompile). the issue has affected a few of the other dlls shipping with winamp in the last few builds but all of this should be resolved so would make sense for the coloreditor to follow on the same lines as well

also as a quick note, why are we still in this thread when this one for 2.1.0 is out. will have to see if a build can be easily made with the recompiled dll...

I responded here because that thread you linked has a link to the discussion here. I had read that as meaning we should come here to discuss the Color Editor.

It would be great if we could get this recompiled, I would love to be able to run this without those 2 dlls.

heh, my bad, hadn't seen that it refered back to here (only looked at the first post and wasn't paying attention to the forum it was in as well.... bad dro very bad dro)

no promises on the recompile but will see what can be sorted out on this one (since it seems silly to have to have those additional dlls just due to the vs2003 compiler being silly about it's linking of the memory functions)

The only directory where I had to put the msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll was SysWOW64.
I think that's the WOW64 emulator for 32bit apps.
