Sounds fine to me...But wouldnt it be easier to just post an update on which windows are done once a week or something??

ok, i don't know if this is a good idea, but if someone finishes something (s)he can post here, so that the rest knows who's already out

btw, i'm still in and i created a new mail alias just for the contest

I don't want to post it here for obvious reasons (poor inbox..), so i suggest we all pm that jellby. The addresses can then be included in the readme. Does this sound good?

My idea was that when someone finishes something, he/she sends a pm to the next (randomly chosen) person asking for an e-mail address to send the skin and (optionally) another one to me informing of the progress. This way we will only know who made what when we start to actually work (well, not 'we', but 'you' ). But if anyone wants to make public that "Hey, I've finished the mono indicator, it's so coooooooool!!!", well, that's not forbidden

Another idea is that the readme.txt be updated by everyone, adding his/her comments.

First update: Nothing finished, not even started

Should work, too I thought having all emails in a readme would prevent some chaos
So the skin is not supposed to be done in public...

Also, the list of components is in a set order (the list is up there in this thread somewhere. So if you are the 5th person to work on the skin, you have to skin the 5th component on that list. It's being randomised, so you don't know when it will be your turn.

wouldn't it be easier to do any component u wanted instead of having to follow a list? i'd be annoyed if i got the playpaus.bmp where any other one would be more to my liking.

Good point, PeaceMaker, it seems I forgot playpaus.bmp (and nums_ex.bmp) in the components list and nobody realized (this shows that no one actually read it ). I'll have to rearrange it a bit, but it won't be right now, you'll have to forgive me, but I'm enjoying my first teaching experience and I'm not going to be able to work on this very much this week.

About chosing components... well, I thought this is the fairest system, also, it's a way to ensure that there is some kind of consistence between the components. But it can be changed if all of you agree, I'm not the boss

dam's sentence is not a contradiction. You people interpreted it wrong.

In plain simple English:

If you still didnt get what I said you mustve flunked English .

Take your time. What`s the hurry ? We want to have fun and hopefully make a decent skin. We don`t need a rush job. Any way you look at it, it will take a while, with all the people involved, emailing, skinners block, etc. Be patient.
Maybe, since this thread is getting so long, at some point we will need to collect the pertinant info and start a new thread.

Oh, I go along with Jellby`s plan or whatever the group decides. Just point my nose in the proper direction.

I'm with you on that one, DAM.

I think the way it is now is definately the fairest. Of course there are more interesting and less interesting components, and most people will want to do the more interesting ones. This way, there will be no arguing, no conflicts, everyone just takes what they are given, everyone takes it easy and not-too-seriously, and hopefully it will be a bit of fun.

About the playpaus. Since it is so very crappily small, I suggest that you join it with numbers.bmp. Since they are very similar, and both are very small, it's probably better if one person does them both.

Yeah, Jellby, have you already made a randomised list of skinners? Or when we complete a component, are we supposed to randomly choose the next skinner?

A good idea might be if you make a list of the skinners and send it to whoever is next after you. Then, that list can be sent on everytime the skin is sent on - so once someone finishes a component, they just send it off to the next person on the list.

It means that those people who have already skinned their component will know who is skinning what component, but I don't think that's a problem - since they won't get to see it until it's all done anyway.

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.

I will only PM someone when I've finished my component, then I choose the next skinner and ask him/her for an e-mail address to send the zip to.

The method dbleja suggested (making a fixed randomized skinners list) is good, and it would avoid possible tweaking by anyone ("let's see... what's next? balance? Well, I'll give it to [insert name here] because I know he hates balance" )

JOB DONE!!

The skinners list has been randomized and now every component has a name next to it , I've also added playpaus.bmp, nums_ex.bmp and eq_ex.bmp to the list. I've sent a PM to the next one (so check your inboxes). If this skin is finished some day we might want to add a mikroamp skin, cursors, avs & milkdrop presets... but that's another story

Oh, I nearly forget it... My background is very crappy, but I'm short of ideas (well, I have some, but they are for whole skins, so they aren't suitable for this). I hope you can improve my poor background.

Well, I love to make milkdrop presets for skins. Would anyone mind if I made some for this one? I know that wouldn't be random at all, but I figure that since there probably aren't that many people who make presets here, anyone who wants to make one could make one, and we could end up having several presets. What do you think?

Fine, everyone wanting to make presets (milkdrop or avs) can make them, they will be added to the .wsz when the skin is finished, all right?

OK, after some tries we finally managed to send a zip file from one of my accounts to one of his/her accounts. So, no progress this week, but now the 2nd skinner can actually work on something

Let's see... 15 skinners, 14 'send to'... one week to make the component, one week to send it... that's 29 weeks = 203 days = 6.7 months... We'll see the skin finished next year.

If I'm correct I've 2 or three AVS-presets at home that I made a while ago, I'll put those in the pack if thats cool

maybe sooner Jellby, since some components can be done in a matter of minutes.
