LOOOOL :P

btw just installed and so far so good... Haven't tweaked arround but after the differences in the sound from 5.09x to 5.1 I don't think winamp can amaze me much more... (reverse psychology LOL )

EDIT: First problem, when using DrO's time restore & auto-play plugin to restore an mms:// stream winamp crashes at startup... Gonna try a clean install as soon as I have time

hello

little strange...when you clic on "password required to change settings" in Specify rating (online Media in media library)

You have a box...but if you want to cancel the opération you can't. Escape or focus in other place don't match, you are in obligation to close and run again Winamp..either it's me ?

Yes, if you checkmark: Prefs > Media Library > Online Media > Specify Ratings > "Password required to change settings" and then click the "Change Password" button, it means that you HAVE to set a password (makes sense to me, though yeah, there could be an option to Cancel).

However, all you do there is to set a password, then go back in (after entering the password) and uncheck "password required", and all is well again.

Anyone who doesn't know the password won't even be able to access it in the first place, so I don't see any problem there. At least there's a Cancel option for anyone who doesn't know the password, heh.

A couple of problems with Station Info.

Opening the config drawer(modern skin) displaces the SI wimdow. (Seems to only happen if two sides of the window are docked)[edit] Could be just the top of the SI needs to be docked[/edit]

Some links (well I've found a couple so far ) are not showing 'Now playing' info even though the Playlist is.
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein...e=playlist.pls
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein...e=playlist.pls

Ripping without Sonic is OK again

@glop - Yes there's a very obvious fix, don't know if it's supposed to be public though.

[Edit --> DJ Egg] No, it's not ;-) [/Edit]

*Additional*

* Fixed: [gen_ml] CDDB Dialog Media Library drawing glitch

Not sure what this refers to.
The empty Artist field bug is still there as far as I can see.

*Additional2*

More SI wierdness.

Play a shoutcast stream from the ML, ... close ML, ... close Winamp.
Reopen Winamp and the SI opens up in a different place and what looks suspiciously like the size of the ML. Clicking the ML button closes the SI, or clicking the thunderbolt opens the ML in a framless window.

@ ujay

Sorry, but I can't reproduce any of those Station Info browser issues, heh.

Not sure what's going on with the streams which don't show any Now Playing info in the SI browser, but I reckon it's probably a serverside issue.

And what do you mean by "The empty Artist field bug is still there"?

___________________________________________________________________

btw, another unlisted new feature is that installer registration info is no longer saved to Windows\winamp.ini but is now saved to the [WinampReg] section of Winamp\winamp.ini

The browser issues could be this machine, I get the ML window opening sometimes when it shouldn't, like the old Playlist bug.
I'll try it on the other machine later and recheck.

what do you mean by "The empty Artist field bug is still there"
From the ML go to Edit CD, clear the Artist field and exit with save. ML now shows default info. Go back to Edit CD and the info is still there, put anything in the Artist field(just a space) and the display returns.
Think Winamp must be seeing the empty string as the end of record and not returning anything.

This version, for some reason, attempts to contact 204.188.244.130 every time I close the app, even when playing only local files, and with reporting annonymous usage and check for updates both disabled. I hate sneaky apps.
Well that is a Betanews comment on this version of Winamp

To avoid this kind of negative publicity (Spyware...), it would be wise to add an additional checkbox to the installer so that everybody gets it what winamp wants to do:

[ ] Check for latest Winamp updates
[ ] Allow anonymous usage reports
[x] Allow to load the latest shoutcast lists when closing winamp

You know what dialog I mean.

In the lite version this checkbox would then just do nothing.

EDIT: BTW, thanks to Benski and Co. for this new release

Yeah, but that option's been in there since 5.09x, but hey, that's people for yer, heh. Just another betanews tard alert :/
I've posted in there... however, two other people got theirs in just before mine, so mine now kinda doesn't quite make as much sense, heh.

@ ujay
I'll look into that CD artist issue later (5am here atm, heh).

that's down to a setting in the plugins resource file not being set correctly (xp seems to show the contents correctly by working on entries added whereas before you had to set the minimum height) and i was meant to contact whicken about that, doh

Yeah, WE know about this option to turn it off. But it is a bit hidden anyways.

And somehow the install screen with anonymous usage reports and the option to turn off the update checks seems to suggest that you can turn off ALL the online activities.

So I would group the hidden checkbox around THOSE ones.

But just my 2 cents.

Rather simples: the feature it's there, it works but since it isn't ready for general usage (it's not finished) they decided to keep it hidden and provide no User Interface for it...

Hi Papadoc, good to see you're still on your feet

Looks like we're still waiting mate.

You can make a pretty good job of organizing bookmarked streams if you use the Media Library Playlists instead. It's an awful lot of work to get it set up initially, as you need to edit the various playlist files in Notepad to get a meaningful display, but it does work well.

Folders in the Bookmark screen would be a hell of a lot easier to handle and maintain though

The install dialog seems to makes users assume that by unticking the anonymous usage report and the update check NO automatic internet access would happen. Just see my quote from Betanews.

I don't say that it is a real issue (I know otherwise). I just think it is not really intuitive and the real checkbox is rather hidden.

I would just group all "automatic internet access" options together.

Yeah, well they'd be wrong with that assumption. Never assume anything.
Those two options do exactly what they say, 'send anonymous user stats' and 'check for new versions at startup'. If they want to disable the Online Media Checker then they either uncheck that option in the Prefs or they select "no internet connection available" in the installer options or winamp prefs.

All that said and done, that feature will probably be gone soon anyway, and replaced by something entirely new.

What glop meant is that whenever anyone asks "when will x version be released" the only answer we ever give is "when it's ready".

Anyway, 5.111 is out now, so it's time for this thread to die.
