Winamp locks up
Winamp starts up just fine but after between 5 and 15 minutes the interface locks up. The media file being played continues till the end and if it's on a playlist it will play the next file. This issue happens on MP3, WAV, and Video files. I have to ctrl+alt+del and end the task in order to stop it.
I have done a clean reinstall and it continues this behavior after re-installation with no plugins. PC Specs: Asus K8N-E Nforce 3 board 1Gb Corsair ram AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.21) Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum EVGA GeForce 7800GS Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) DirectX 9.0c (5.3.2600.2180) WinAmp 5.35 Pro with shared prefs. I think thats it, if you need anything else just ask me. Decius, |

1. Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences)
2. Plug-ins > Output 3. highlight/select 'DirectSound output' If DirectSound is already the current output plug-in, try the DirectSound tweaks. Close and restart Winamp after making the DirectSound tweaks. Although it is not necessary, you may also want to close Windows and restart/reboot the computer. No luck? Please provide additional Winamp & system specs. |

I can't find any "red flags" in your logs/lists. Anyone else?
Although the sound card driver looks very recent, try going to the SoundBlaster site and see if you can update to a more recent driver. Otherwise, do you have any devices showing up in the Portables section of the Media Library? Anything legitimate or something that does not seem like it should be there? |

Nothing under portables. Newest driver is Oct '06 will try as its 2 months newer than my installed one according to the device manager.
:edit: Updated sound driver, no dice. Also just noticed Winamp will lock up even if I do not have a media file playing. Last edited by Decius84; 19th September 2007 at 03:25. |

Just at a guess...
While Winamp is not running go to the Winamp\Plugins folder and try disabling the pmp_usb.dll file either by adding .off to the end of the file or moving the file to another folder. |

No luck, still locked up.
Do you think that a clean install of beta 5.5 might work? |
