Metadata Editing in Shoutcast 1

Hello there,

I have used Icecast and I saw that you can modify the Metadata that is streamed on the stream.

I didn't know how to modify data on a shoutcast 1 server.

Is it possible? / How can I do this ?

SHOUTcast v1 (and v2) servers only send what is given to them by the connected source and that is usually in the format of 'artist - title'. so you'll need to control it in the source being used to try to have it formed or contain something else that you're wanting to do.

only thing i'll say is that adding in a mass of text is annoying from a user view point.

a solution is by streaming into an Icecast server and rebroadcast it to a shoutcast one but you lose on-air/online time . (there is a 2 min delay )

iceacast has a metadata editor .

I tought that you have a better solution, but anyway thank you for the answer !

the SHOUTcast DNAS doesn't know about anything like that, it just sends what it receives so the onus is on the source (be that sc_trans , Winamp + DSP, other programs) to do it (as you're basically doing with the Icecast stream).

If I stream directly on IceCast I can change the metadata from the server web interface.

SHOUTcast isn't Icecast so you can't really compare features (and i've never used Icecast so i've no idea what it does or doesn't provide).
