Album art being applied to more songs than the current one

I have noticed some odd behaviour when applying album art to a song.

If the song has the correct album title in the ID3 tag, then the album art will be applied to the song and all the other songs in the same album. This is very intuitive and brilliant behaviour. However, if you skip to another song (using global hotkeys) with the File Info box still open and then apply the album art, it will be applied as normal, but also to the current playing song, which could be anything.

If the album title is not in the ID3 tag, then album art gets applied to all songs by the artist, even if they already have an album title in the tag, but only if they don't already have album art in the tag. This is not expected behaviour I assume.

[edit]Deleting the artwork from the same song it was originally applied to then has the same effect as adding it - it gets removed from all the other artist's songs that got the artwork.[/edit]

This should be easily reproducible.

Using Bento with 5.5 on WinXP. Clean install.

Today I tried adding album art to a M4A file while it was playing. Winamp added the album art but immediately skipped to the next song in the playlist.

The M4A file is now unplayable, it seems like it's been corrupted. Winamp won't even read its metadata, even after restarting Winamp.

Send a message via ICQ to omar73
