Quinto Black CT - New Winamp Modern skin

Hi!

Yes, i currently have both 3.1 and 3.3 installed if i check the skins in Winamp.
Do i need to remove both versions and reinstall 3.3 to get the VU-meter and Visualizer for mainplayer to work you think? I found color-changer and spent some time with it, so rather not reinstall the skin =)

Was hoping to have some preinstalled colors, since it saves alot of time =)

I don't know if trying to use both versions will cause problems. I'm only using 3.1. You should see the the visualizer and vu-meter on main player in the long list of Quinto Black CT options. If not, or they don't work, it could be because you have conflicting configuration data for both versions in your studio.xnf file.

The first time you use a modern skin the configuration data for it is saved in the studio.xnf file. Select the version of Quinto you want to use then close Winamp and delete the studio.xnf file or move it to another folder for safe keeping. After that, the 1st time you restart Winamp you will need to configure the version of Quinto you had selected again (i.e. change from the defaults you don't want). The 1st time you switch to another modern skin you will need to also change it's defaults that you don't want.

Yes, it does take time to configure things in Quinto the way you want. That's why I'm still using 3.1. This skin has so many options (maybe too many), which is both the good and bad of using it. However you only have to do this once (if you don't keep changing things).

The developer removed the color themes and added the RGB Color Changer because users kept asking for more color themes. So now we do the coloring work instead of him.

TIP: Make a note of the changes you have made for all your modern skins (especially the colors in Quinto) before deleting the studio.xnf file. Don't try to rely on your memory, it's too much stuff to remember. Also it's not a bad idea to keep notes of all changes made to other parts of Winamp. It's a rare thing, but corruption of configuration data files can happen.

After I unzip the archive, move its stuff to Winamp's Plugins folder and apply Quinto using the Skins menu option, it doesn't work. Instead, Winamp changes from the Modern to the Classic skin and jumps from the bottom right to almost the top left of the screen.

What's wrong? Is there something I am missing or should do?

Winamp 5.666 Build 3516 (x86) running on Windows 10 Pro 1909 (18.363.900) (64-bit) here.

A skin is not a plug-in. Put the archive is the Winamp Skins subfolder. Winamp can open the archive on it's own. Alternately, you can create a subfolder under the Skins folder and put the contents of the archive there.

Sorry, I wrote Plugin, but I actually put the archive in the Skins folder. And no matter if I unzip it to a folder or let is as a zipped file, the result is always the same.

BTW, when I go to the Quinto Black CT download page here, it reads:

It is a modern skin (*.wal) compatible with Winamp 5.666 build 3516.
Don't forget to check out the included read_me.txt file.

But the zip file has no txt file. Perhaps this would have instructions to make it work here?

Yes. With the same result.



Now I noticed that:

- Quinto's is the only folder with one file only
- Other skins folders have other files (like .png, .xml) and subfolders
- Quinto's file type is identified as URL:Winamp Command Handler
- No other skin folder here has such file type

Downloaded a version from DeviantArt and it came with these files and folders and stuff. And it worked.

A .wal file is a type of archive. It contains files, folders, and other stuff. If you had put the Quinto Black CT v3.5.wal file in the Winamp/Skins folder instead of a subfolder, then Winamp would have been able to use it. Winamp would have put the contents of the Quinto Black CT v3.5.wal file in your default temp folder and would have been able to use the files, folders, and other stuff from there.

Sometimes skins are placed in .wsz files, which is another type of archive. Winamp will handle them the same way it handles .wal files.

Anyway, I'm glad you finally found a way to use Quinto Black CT. It is one of my favorite skins.

Yes, that is why Winamp cannot use it. You should put Quinto Black CT v3.5.wal into the Skins folder, not quinto_black_ct.

Its looking nice now I've figured out the RGB colour changer etc...

Is it still necessary to delete the studio.xnf file and letting Winamp remake it, when installing the v3.6 modern skin version? Or does the new Quinto installer take care of previous version entries in the studio.xnf file?

Quinto has a lot of features and the installer lets you select which of them you want on your machine.

You don't HAVE TO use the latest versions. You only need to do so if you want support from the developers. Search the internet for trusted sites to download earlier versions from.

I can provide up to 15 earlier versions of Quinto Black CT via PM if you want them.

Hi, Aminifu, I'm trying to setup winamp on macosx, and I did it successfully. Now, adding my preferite skins I used to have on Win, I found now and would like to add the Quinto skin, but I only find the last, in .exe form. Can You share the last in wsz or wal? If not the last, the last before the last

Hey all, I love this skin and I've been using it for a while. Big thanks to the creator of it!

Recently I had to re-install Windows, and when I installed Winamp and this skin again, the playlist options have gone away. There used to be ability to save and load playlists from the playlist window (buttons along the bottom)
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get them back. Does anyone know how??

I'm using winamp v5.8 and v2.5 of the skin (I tried the latest version, doesn't load properly for some reason) I was using v2.5 of the skin prior to re-installing Windows.

You need to resize the Playlist Editor larger than 800x340 pixels to activate the frame switcher button and then you will be able switch to a frame with the buttons you miss.

Hi,

The developer changed how this skin is packaged and installed with version 3.6. I have the version 3.5 wal file, but this site will not allow me to attach it to a post or a private message. I put it in a 4.6 MB zip file which the site says is too big even-though it is supposed to accept up to 15 MB zip files.

What's that 000 between Program Files (x86) and Winamp? Probably that's why Quinto does not find it.

That's the folder I made where I install my programs, it's convenient for me to have them in a separate folder. What would be the easiest way to get around that: reinstall Winamp in C:\Program Files (x86)\ or maybe tweak something in Quinto or elsewhere?

Reinstalling Winamp in C:\Program Files (x86) is easier than modifying Quinto's installer.
