When I try to raise the shader model level above 3 to go over 512 ops Milkdrop crashes and takes Winamp down with it. Then again going beyond is also too much to handle for my graphics card anyway.
I've sneaked in an old random mashup with the lasers in this pack too as a reminder for later. |

After pushing my eyeballs back in their socket and picking my jaw off of the floor, I have to say your newest preset is nothing short of awesome. Thanks for sharing with us mere Milkdrop mortals.
![]() Flexi, your I love your [bipolar 01] remix. Really nice edit. I had to try my hand at this too. |

Yeah Martin, I haven't dared to give my opinion on your awesome new terrain shader. I'm in awe! I had the idea to remix it with the bipolar effect which I've used excessively in 2014, and I got lost remixing over and over again. In a rush, I haven't even used it with your original composite shader. But now here are my two favorite picks.
Also, reducing the quality from 4 to 2 doesn't make a noticeable difference. |

Martin, I just realized there's a tiny shadertoy entry which is kinda similar looking to your massif central one: https://www.shadertoy.com/view/llsGW7
I just stumbled upon the link in this recently finished challenge: https://www.shadertoy.com/events/competition2017 That by the way, I've found on the Twitter stream from https://twitter.com/Bananaft |

![]() I think you got me wrong about music idea. The music does not just consist of high-tempo songs but what I meant was different. For example, when I listen an ambient music, it was amazing. However, while the musics tempo was suddenly rising, I would like to see some nuances. (another video: https://youtu.be/PVzljDmoPVs?t=1m17s ) |

I understand that. My recommendation is just to select a different preset for faster music. It is not possible in milkdrop to make a preset fit all music styles, neither is it possible to detect the tempo and adjust the preset. Anyway, here are two mods. |

inferno is hot and its composite shader works well with the original massif central preset. I must resist the urge to make new bipolar fractal mixes. I think those would work well, but I also wanted to give this a spin: https://twitter.com/felixturner/stat...50742528753664

I am sure, also the 2 new presets from Post #367 will look fine. And I myself think, we also need a good balance, not everything should be so hectic. We have already enough hectic in our life.
Maybe tomorrow I can take a look. Already this evening I will have 39654 presets in the presets folders (and I have counted 2635 skins now). Maybe I will add also the next "Vytis Textures" although I wish, I would have made some more new own photos this year. Vytis still teaches me how to make good photoworks. Somehow I have the feeling, already tomorrow I will download the next presets... ![]() Keep up Your good work!... ![]() Sabine Klare Aka Sternenmaschinebine Music, Art, Lyrics, Videos AMBIENT... Also, I want to mention that. I think you've read my thoughts and turned it into reality. ![]() When I was criticizing your sharing "massif central" preset, I decided to add something myself. I thought we could better reflect the music with the lighting and shadow effects. So I decided that the shining lights in the dark environment could solve the tempo phenomenon. I tried something in composite shader afterwards but they were not ready yet. Anyway, "Inferno" contains more. (Better per-frame, warp and composite shader codes) |

The new serial with massif central, inferno and badlands is really very impressive. I took some time especially for these presets, and I have learned a little bit more about the different planets and their tectonics in the universe, also about the energetic liveforms on the planets.
I am sure, that also the Flexi's wave edit will look very fine... ![]() Sabine Klare Aka Sternenmaschinebine Music, Art, Lyrics, Videos AMBIENT... AMBIENT music forever... |

Your music-video "Motorcycle - As The RUSH Comes (2017 EPIC REMIX)" is very good. The presets look very fine.
I have planned to watch also "Giorgio Moroder - Knights In White Satin (2017 SWRadio Mix)", but currently I am playing music by Vytis (Vytis Dubs) on SoundCloud, and together with the other Techno Fan I am trying to enjoy the music in the computer-room of the meeting-point. I feel so sick today, and maybe I will be forced to go into my next absence for some days. Again I want to say: Keep up Your good work!... ![]() Sabine Klare Aka Sternenmaschinebine Music, Art, Lyrics, Videos AMBIENT... AMBIENT music forever... |

Good to hear from you. Within the past week, I've finished two more tribute videos for Giorgio Moroder. My favorite is https://youtu.be/CQ8U2NBmfow I Want to Rock You. All three Giorgio videls relied heavily on Milkdrop.

Currently "Cosmic Gate - Fire Wire" has been wanted, but I will ask the other Techno Fan in the computer-room of the meeting-point later, if I can play also Your music-videos. At least he had liked the music by Motorcycle. I am so glad, that we have the same music-taste. Of course I want to see the music-videos with music by Giorgio Moroder...

Well, the beat detection... unfortunately this version had a problem with exactly that, I forgot to subtract the movement through the tunnel from the control sequence for the lights. Fixed that, and now it really synchronizes. Much better

Hi Fumbling_Foo
Thank you. The beat detection which works on the neon tubes is the same as the one you are using in your preset, just put into scene differently. The moving shapes in the middle are controlled by the spectrum from the waves. I like to use two different schemes per preset: The rhythmic beat detection won't synchronise on every music; if it doesn't, that can be quite annnoying. But for that case, there is still the simple dancing shapes the eye can focus on. It is my own experience that the view concentrates on the parts of the scene that somehow follow the rhythm, so it's generally a good idea to offer alternatives. On the perspective change: This is deliberate, to bring on a change, but I agree it does not fit every music. It should not come on often, and it is not randomly controlled but depends on the quality of beat detection - it is triggered when the algorithm thinks that it is well on beat, but even then only for a few seconds. The algorithm cannot however "sense" the music style, in fact it is rather simple, and matched to the music I usually listen to. I generally prefer fast paced rhythms, and that is where I feel this occasional switch of view can be quite ecstatic. This preset was mainly done while listening to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f04pC0_U5-I and that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKArC9Jy8iU BTW do you know of any other good psytrance or similar ? I mean not the uninspired and repetitive stuff you mostly find on youtube. |

I thought the neon tubes might've been using harmonic beat detection

I can't believe I forgot about these dudes for trance music. Its a different take on that genre of music, if it can even be considered to be a part of it.

However, the movements that burn out the tubes need to be developed and sometimes they react very quickly. Despite everything, there is a very professional vision in reality. |

New work
![]() ![]() Martin - if I may suggest some psytrance for you, check out the album 'Out Of This World' by Digicult. It's a little less full-on than the links you've posted, but I think it's one of the best psy albums I've heard. (Plus, based on the quick listen the the links you provided, it seems to share many of the same samples - though there's really only a few people/types of movie & documentary that psytrance artists really sample :P D ![]() |
