Best junk food?

I'm looking for something to munch on during movies, or with beer while watching football, etc. What should I buy?

Hot wings, Jalapeno Wings, Honey Mustard Wings. Foster Farms has fully cooked nukable ones that I get in a 6 pound bag from Costco. 8 wings. paper towel on top. 7 minutes. Ding. Just had some.

I like cheese. My favorite lately has been Wasabi cheese, but Gouda is always good. Cheese and grapes or apples... good snack... Hot dogs, polish sausage also nukable or grillable.

I keep some chili and ravioli around. I bought some frozen egg rolls this week. 1 minute nuke. Good with some mustard powder and water (make a paste) for dip. Or you can buy some plum sauce in the asian section.

I like nukular popcorn sometimes. It seems like the cheaper the better. Orville Reddenbacker sucks.

Frozen burritos and chocolate milk. Don't ask me why? Good for a hangover. Needs Tapatio hot sauce... the best.

Chips and salsa. Nuke some cheddar on the chips and side with some sour cream. Good with some ground beef on it too. I usually grill an extra burger to save for chopping up and topping chips.

Should always have some cookies. My favorite is oatmeal raisin.

How did I get to 204 when I should weigh about 185? I weighed 190 for 2 decades... then turned 40....

I wouldn't mind so much but my ass went to my stomach too. Had to buy wider belts to keep my pants up.

I always get the frozen burritos, hot pockets, frozen pizza(I like Digiorno the best) and some other stuff. I also like making milk shakes with ice cream and milk.

For the last 10 years I've weighed about 130(+/- a few.

There is no sig.

I had a dream the other night about jam filled shortbread sticks, for lack of a better term. Apricot or raspberry. I was munching on them at the supermarket, I think I'd walked through the checkout without paying...
Anyway I remember waking up thinking they'd be awesome, go great with hot chocolate or something, and that I should probably try and make some money off of the idea. But, I can't cook, have no money, and little 'drive', so you may as well all know my idea.

i think a better question would be worst junk food because best will always make huge lists like RoH's....

worst junk food is chips (both fried and roasted) and popcorn, absolutely no nutritional properties, too much fat and oils, with a storebought hamburger and homemade sauce you can make something decent with less than half the calories fast food restaurants shoot at you (yes, i said fast food because any fast food is junk)

only worst than chips and popcorn are any type of candy

[edit] but like always i'm out of context, sorry

Well, beer was a given.

Some suggestions are getting too far away from JUNK food. E.g. the chili is only junk food if slopped over a grease-oozing hot dog. Most were pretty good. Renee said kettle cooked potato chips - maybe Cape Cod chips, but while that sounds good, a lot of the above seems more intriguing.

It's been a while since my last egg roll - I like those a lot; can't figure out why I haven't had them in a while. Also, the look-alikes that are pizza rolls... hmmm...

@ ShyShy ~ you mean just the powdered gravy that you boil with a cup of water, or gravy from last Sunday's roast beef dinner? I like both, but one requires a lot of effort. I usually try to do the junk food thing on college football Saturdays, which is a long way from the previous Sunday.

@ ujay ~ might need a private jet with a huge fuel tank for access to that, but sounds good.

@ kingo ~ perhaps worst is what I'm looking for in a sense. This is for those limited times where a little bad-for-you stuff is acceptable in moderation. Looking more for taste than health, although it's possible to have both as you point out. I have the rest of the week for healthy food.

@ Paul ~ sounds like a rather sinful but delicious breakfast.

@ deeder ~ all good but the milkshake - can't handle dairy at times near alcohol times. Not sure why, but my body won't allow it. The nukepizza and hot pockets were a common food when I was single, and somehow I never gained weight.

@ RoH ~ I might be set for a couple weekends there. Good work.

Any more suggestions?

Granted, it's not junkfood, I like a big bag of salted peanuts with my beer & sports ... you know the kind that you have to shell and make a big mess when you do? Yum.

I've been slaving over those for the past week, and yet it's still worth it. That's what inspired me to make this thread. The price is right on them too.

When they're heavily salted, they qualify in my book, plus, as you stated, they make a big mess. Big mess from a food product = junk food in a sense, although carrot peels don't make carrots junk food (unless you smother them in fatty dip).

Popcorn with parmesan cheese. Hot air would be best or a microwave brand that doesn't have salt or butter. Melt a half a stick of butter (not margarine) and mix it with the popcorn (a little at a time) in a large bowl. Add a little cheese at a time and mix and repeat until you feel you have enough cheese.

Alternately, you can buy the cheap boxes of mac and cheese and use the cheddar packet from those. Just save the macaroni in a container and use it later for recipes.

Adjust amount of butter according to taste and try various spices if you're daring.

Some microwave brands have cheese, but they seem harder to find and it's probably just as easy to make it yourself since some of them have you doing the mixing anyway.

It's good. Popcorn balls are good too.

Add crinkle fries to the list. I really don't like gravy. Katsup works. Ranch dressing is pretty killer too. A good thing to have for fries is a pyrex plate because it doesn't stick and you don't have to fool with foil or anything. Making some now. I used to deep fry, but baked is good enough and not a mess.

I like frozen pies too. Usually peach or cherry. Pop in the oven. Ice cream and hot pie... hard to take... I think it is fundamentally impossible to be in a bad mood while eating peach pie and ice cream.

Somehow that sounds appealing....

It reminds me of some of the stuff we used to make college. How to feed 4 guys for a buck or so...we used to call it a "glop" contest.. you'll have to account for 2009 prices vs. 1980.

A. Enough cooked Macaroni for 4 guys.
B. A can of Tuna fish.
C. A can of peas.
D. A can of cream of mushroom soup + 1/2 can of water.
E. Bread crumbs usually from bread that we dried before it went bad or stolen crunchy chow-mein noodles from the Chinese Restaurant.

Put A-D in a casserole dish uncovered and cook at 375 degrees until hot... Switch to broil to brown the bread crumbs.

Might cost $3 now days.

In my opinion, the healthiest junk food is beef jerky. High protein, relatively low calories and low carb. Just watch out for the sodium.

Buy some yummy chocolate, and a bag of popping corn.
Melt the chocolate, make the popcorn and mix with sugar =D

Of course there is always giant pizzas! You'd have to look around your local area but when I was staying in Cardiff with my boyfriend we ordered these square pizzas that were 18" in size, we had enough pizza to last weeks after that ^_^

What else.... ummm of course lots of candy! Like haribo, pocky, fruit pastelles etc etc

Can't think of much else right now...
