Windows Media 9.2 Lossless not playing 5.8

I have some albums ripped in Windows Media 9.2 Lossless 5.1 and they no longer play in 5.8. They all played just fine in 5.666 and I confirmed they will still play in VLC and Windows Media Player and pretty much any other player except Winamp.

I ripped a couple test files, doesn't seem to matter if they are 2-channel or 5.1 any Windows Media 9.2 Lossless seem to not work.

It processes the file but just outputs crackling and static.

Any tips or suggestions, I tried to experiment with a few output settings to no avail.

What is the files extension? What app creates the file? Can u upload an example?

Do u use any 3rd party plugins? What output plugin are you using?

Why not use FLAC or ALAC?

The file extension is .wma.

I believe I ripped them with dbPoweramp.

I don't have any plugins not included with Winamp installer.

I ripped them to that format because it's encoded in 5.1 instead of 2-channel.

I can't really upload an example file, the avg size is about 200Mb

FLAC and ALAC support multi channel audio.

Dropbox should work to upload.

I think I'm using the default Output plugin, DirectSound Output v2.70, does that sound right?

Just for good measure I tested it on another PC with a fresh/clean install of Winamp.

Same result, just these particular files won't play in Winamp.

Decided just to re-rip the albums as FLAC 6-channel, it's only a few albums and I no longer specifically need .wma format for these.

Thanks for that suggestion.
