OGG streams from hydrophone?

I've got some 16bit 24khz OGG encoded audio coming off a hydrophone in the north pacific (approx 5000 meters deep) and would love to make it available on the net. Currently the guys have netcat pushing the stream to icecast but the config is a bit fragile and we'd like something might have a chance at surviving a slashdot'ing.

So I'm looking at using Shoutcast...but am having a bit of a problem finding a way to duplicate what the guys did with netcat and icecast...

Does anyone have some wisdom to share? Help out and we shall share whalesong with the world...

well the shoutcast DSP supports AAC, MP3 files only.

However you could be playing the OGG files with any media player that supports OGG. Then open up winamp, setup the shoutcast DSP to use SOUNDCARD for the input, configure your windows mixer to use WHAT YOU HEAR or STEREO MIX and it will intercept or trap all audio output and viola.

Or if you have the time convert the ogg files to mp3

search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn.

Why not just upload the files to a server and let users download them? I'm not sure if streaming it is really necessary for what you need.

If I wanted to listen to fish mating in the dark, I wouldn't want to connect to a stream that is already past the good stuff

ok I made a mistake and created an authcode when I had the server behind my test firewall at (nomex.ancl.hawaii.edu) but I've since moved it behind the production firewall at (aco.soest.hawaii.edu) and I need to generate a new authcode.

Can you folks help me out on this?
