Winamp greatness

Winamp2.9x is an incredibly smart decision; I just heard about it in the Joel on Software forums. But three last things to make Winamp great:

Brightness/contrast controls.
Windows Media Player has this, and it's really useful for vids that are encoded too darkly. Too many are.
Crossfading.
This was the killer Winamp3 feature, avoiding the pauses between songs when you want to keep energy up.
Codec list.
Enable/disable used codecs. For some reason in Winamp3, viewing xvid videos shows everything in blue, including some that played fine before. I don't know where the codec is but I'd like to disable it.
k, you can get a plugin for crossfading in winamp 2.9x... I just dont have the time to link to it for you right now.
As for the other 2 I assume that they both apply to video playback.
I agree with both of them... But carful to compare Winamp to WMP. Cause there is now comparison... Winamp kicks ass.

Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot!

Heh, I just mentioned WMP because it's the one feature worth anything that it has over Winamp.

Thanks for mentioning the crossfader plugin, I guess you're talking about Justin Frankel's. So there's only two features left that Winamp could use!

Yup, Thats the one... Dont get me wrong, I am not giving you shat, just pointing out that some of the more avid winamp users, like myself, are prone be displeased by comparisons to MS.

Yes

Winamp v5 will be the natural upgrade from Winamp v2.91
So all the 2.9x features are already there.

Winamp 2.9, Winamp3, and the future

Winamp 2.9x has fading in direct sound output. Just need to configure it properly.

I wish I had a popup menu (on playlist or main window in winshade mode) with playlist items. Customizable. Like in Apollo or Quintessential players.

Maybe one could suggest some plugin with such functionality?

I think the skin list within the program is confusing.

IMO I think they should be seperated into two lists as at the moment it is hard to tell which skins are freeform (modern) or classic from looking at the skins list.

Brightness & Colour adjustment for video

I wish the full version of WA5 had these two essential functions for video playback and preferably contrast & saturation controls as well - then WA5 would be the perfect media player (kick BSPlayer's ass )

!!!IMPORTANT!!! an UNDO list change. I hate when I put together a playlist and "accidentally" hit new list or Clear Playlist or double click a file and have it clear my list(enqueue option off) or maybe even have an autosave incase of one of those rare winamp crashes(when the playlist reverts back to previous)

The King of all that is Evil.

Please add a save Video window size after ending that video option. (Videos in different resolutions start in the previous size.)

I added some stuff in here today. But I am going to close this thread so I no longer have to follow it. This whole forum is for Winamp5 now and it is just easier then to follow that way.

*whacked*
