On Board Video Help: Going crazy...

My motherboard is an M810LR-H, and the On Board Video is SiS730, i've looked online for hours trying to get help on how to disable the video, but i've found no possible way. Is there any way to disable it? It is eating up 64 mb's of my ram, which my geforce 2 already has .

If anyone is going to build a system, don't buy anything with SiS on it
This sucks.

Why did you crosspost?? Keep it to one thread next time.

And how hard did you look??

Took me about 2 minutes to work this one out.

Firstly, your motherboar is not an M810LR-H it's an M810LMR.

M810LR-H is just shown in the bios strings while booting.

Secondly, when inserting an agp card, the board should detect it and disable the onboard video.

Under PCI / Plug and Play Setup page, ensure that the Primary Graphics Adapter is set to PCI. You may also have to manually uninstall the drivers for the onboard video.

If its not detecting it, then its likely that the card is fuxored.

The other post is dead, and noone helped me at all whatsoever.

Are you saying that I have to disable it in windows before it can detect my agp card? and yes all the other stuff you said is right, irq is set to pci, the other one is set to pci as well.

And easy..? I looked online for a long time, and i've found noone who has been able to disable it, my friend who had this motherboard before me for a couple of months found no way to disable the video as well.

Thats because it's disabled automatically when an agp card is inserted.

Make sure thats how its set. Nothing to do with irq's here.

If you're using win9x, it would probably be best boot into safe mode and disable the onboard video driver....however, if youre not getting any information displayed (bios boot screen etc) on your monitor when its plugged into the card in the agp slot, then im pretty sure its safe to assume the card is stuffed.

Are you sure the card is inserted properly?

When I insert an AGP card, why do I get a blank screen?

Extremely common question. Most cases, it is because the AGP card hasn't been inserted fully. Try re-inserting it with a little more pressure. If this is the case, plug in a monitor to the onboard VGA. If you get a picture, then the AGP is still not inserted fully.

I have already read that website, and everything they say on it is crap, they think the people reading it are stupid, but I'm not going to bother anymore, i've decided that there is no possible way to disable it.

I'm saving for MSI KT4, since this thread gave me no help whatsoever.

Why not take it to a repair shop and have them look at it?

Would be cheaper than buying a new board.

It's not that uncommon, but most people never see it because they have a graphics card plugged into the AGP slot.

I'd get a new motherboard, without an onboard graphics card.

Alternatively, you could buy a brand new Dell machine with Geforce card. Then you wouldn't even need to open it up or do anything complicated like putting a new graphics card in...
