The number one reason not to use Verizon?

That god awful expanding ad at the top of the forum page.

Tried Firefox, didn't like it and need ads to bitch about so yes, I use IE.

You gotta see this thing. It expands into an animated arm "tagging" the page with cellpropanganda

You better take a screenshot, as I'm guessing 90% of the people who visit GD won't know what your talking about (including me).

I get the picture, got the same thing on my startpage from UPC

it gives me a giant cellphone ( sony) appearing out of nowhere in my screen with a tiny little cross you can click in the upper right corner of the thing so it disappears again.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

If you're guessing 90%, I'll take that bet and lower it by 50%.
If you can't see it for whatever reason, it's not your worry

Oh yes, I was getting those and my computer is so gay that it was showing it through on the next tab (Firefox) so I actually went and got adblock and flashblock, then discovered a neat little browser called Epiphany. The forums look rather.. err ..bland now http://sp0rky-n00b.co.uk/forumshot.jpg

That particular ad is actually smaller and less visually insulting than the tagger ad.

Yeah, if you guys haven't found some way to get rid of that kinda crap from ever appearing on your comp (ff+adblock+filterset G being my vote for most elegant), you need to.
Tracking cookies become none existant, spyware would almost completely go away for IE users, folders don't have to worry about flash animations chewing away any cycles, and any popups that would ever be able to get through come to a screaching halt.

I still get gappage, but I assume that's because I block the ads before they can ever get to Firefox...

It's not really a problem. It's a small space compared to the rest of the page, and it doesn't add any time at all to page load times. So, that one thing doesn't cause enough of a problem to justify downloading that nuke-it plugin (or whatever it's called). But if I do find a really good reason to download that plugin, I'll get rid of that gap then.

Actually, do GM scripts run with XPConnect priveleges? I think there might actually be injection possibilities with (particularly poorly-written) scripts if they do.
