Did I drink too much?

Last night I went to the bar with a friend from work. I had 3 Smirnoff Ice Green Apple something and some french fries. Usually the Smirnoff doesn't kick too hard(partly why I like it).

Since I got home I have been cold and hot alternately throughout the night and most of today. I usually get this if I have a cold or something.

Any ideas?

Edit:

On a side note, that friend from work is a 40 year old lady. We kind of made out a little when I walked her home. Not sure if that part is important but it sure is something new.

There is no sig.

If you drank too much, you would've woken up in a place you don't remember falling asleep at, with a massive headache and thirst like no other.

This is a sig of some nature.

Unless you ate nothing else that week and downed them in 2 minutes, I doubt it was the alcohol. Alcohol and sugar (found abundantly in RTD's) can both inhibit your immune system. You ate french fries and kissed a lady, you also walked home: what was the weather like?

Personally, unless I can't walk or breathe, I don't worry too much. Actually, my ankles have been playing up with the last 2 or 3 months, but I haven't done anything about that ether.

It was wet outside as it had been raining. I actually walked to work because it was closer and called my sister for a ride home.

Both excessive alcohol and tiredness can play with the body's temperature control - they tend to have opposite effects - tiredness results generally in an inability to keep warm, whereas excessive alcohol allows blood to flow more freely to extremeties, giving an illusion of warmth, while taking heat away from core body functions.

What makes the Smirnoff a "girls drink"? I only drank it because I like the taste and figured I wouldn't get messed up. And it was cheap.

I never drink with the intention of getting drunk. I drink to loosen up a bit with whoever I'm with. Usually it doesn't work out that way.

Firstly, Smirnoff Ice has all kinds of sugars and chemicals in it that will worsen the effects of a hangover. Secondly, it's a drink designed to specifically mask the tastes of alcohol, hence it's a girl's drink.

I can put down 8 shots of Jack Daniel's in a night and still be sober by closing time, with no sign of a hangover the next day.

okay, so $6 a shot at the club I usually wind up at isn't exactly cheap, but that's DC for you.

When you first start drinking, you usually run the gamut, and that often includes the "girlie" drinks. (It's been ages, for example, since I've had a sloe gin fizz.) My guess is if you are still drinking to any degree in 5 to 10 years, you won't be drinking those "Kool-aid" drinks.

Looks pretty cool. L.A. Guns, Kix, Fates Warning, etc.... certainly some "old school" there that might be interesting. Unfortunately, the only time I went "clubbing" in D.C., some new-age nitwit tried to sell me some crystals.

ignorance, at least if you know about something you can choose not to care about it...

I haven't really tried gin yet. Must buy a bottle next time I go piss shopping. Currently drinking Johnnie walker red & dry, must say I tend to go for softer tastes, I enjoy effect faaar more than nasty alcoholic burning taste. I'm only on my 3rd and I reasonably drunk, but, I haven't been paying much attention to the ratio so I have no idea how much I've actually had.

I have to agree with Razzinno; I used to try almost any drink placed in front of me, and the sweeter ones were easier to down. As mysterious_w said, sugar/chemical drinks will generally do more harm than good, especially if you have a lot. It's far easier the "next morning" if you drink cleaner stuff. I tend not to drink that stuff any more, not so much in the name of masculinity, but more just because I've lost the taste for it.

Based on what you mentioned in your initial post, it looks like a lot of factors came into play here. You probably just have a small annoying cold.

Now.... yet another reality TV show.... "The Cougar"

Stacey's dating experiences have led her to believe that men her age and older live under the pressure of a "ticking clock" that dampens their spontaneity and zest for life.

Men Stacey's age think she is a twit.

The last time I got drunk I planed on having a few. Ended up having the whole box in 3-4 hours, knocking my computer off my desk and breaking the wireless card, and going for a walk around the neighborhood in my slippers despite my bad ankles. Don't remember much, talked to some chick who stopped in her car, all I remember from the conversation was "I'm a christian" at which point I walked away.
Spent the next morning lying at the bottom of the shower throwing up as much as I could so that when I went to work I could act at least partly alive.

The blue drink was indeed Vodka. I guess I drank more than I thought. Around 3 or 4 shots worth I think. Not sure as it was in a cup.

How long does a hangover usually last? I heard a day but I'm thinking the alcohol remains for a while after that.

you sleep it\pass out it over and get the headaches when you wakeup, that's all i know

alcohol dissipates differently with every person, it has to do with body mass, metabolism... stuff like that, as there are people that are officially drunk after 1 glass of wine, and people who get drunk after drinking 2 bottles of vodka.

i once drank a flask of vodka with an energy drink, never felt so bad in my life

Basicly your body can (roughly) break down one 'standard drink' or 'dose' in one hour, a dose being roughly a standard can of beer/shot/or glass of wine.
In New Zealand it says right on the label how many standard drinks is in whatever your drinking.

So when you wake up 8 hours after drinking '19' in 3 hours and have to be at work in 2 hours you know it's going to be a fun 7 hour shift.

the only drunk to drunk is the alcohol thinning your blood. This is why people with heart conditions who take blood thinners need to stay the hell away from booze. It can't last for days.

Sure, you may feel like shit for days because you made your stomach upset with all the alcohol you fed it ... so start chewing on some sodium bicarb to make it feel better again. Your belly will feel great when you buffer it properly again.

You may also have a massive headache because the alcohol made you so dehydrated. Drink some water. But don't drink the water until the tummy is taken care of because you will puke it back out <water is not a buffer!>.

The metabolization rate of alcohol is not linear either. It is quite exponential. By those rules, a 12 pack should have one shitfaced for a good 12 hours if they drank it all in an hour.
