When one logs in to these forums, he receives the message "Thank, you're in, <username>." This is not grammatically correct.

Can we fix this? it's embarrassing.

thank for your time.

Heh. I should go and find all the seperate threads about this one. Most people (in charge) think it's funny, and that's probably the reason it hasn't been changed. For more Nullsoft language mangling, see Winamp3's Thinger and Configurification components

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

!!! Don't touch that log-in message !!!

I, for one, like it that way. It just wouldn't be the same without it, gives you that warm familiar feeling like a favourite pair of tatty old jeans.

Change that log-in and the world comes to an end.

I've started one of these threads as well... in the Bitchlist, I think it was.

I've become used to it now though. If the folks at Nullsoft think it's funny, who am I to argue?

OK. I appreciate that the "Thank, you're in..." message is gone, but the new message has a grammatical error as well. Please correct this, it's embarrassing.

"Normally, you would be reading some witty remark right about now. Unfortunately, we are uninspired netgeeks, so the meaning of life will have to do:

'It is like a drop of water that has risen from the sea and in a shower has fallen in a puddle, then drifts into a brook, finds its way into a stream, after that into a river, passing through mountain gorges and wide plains, winding this way and that, obstructed by rocks and fallen trees, till at least it reaches the boundless seas from which it rose. 'But that poor little drop of water, when it has once more become one with the sea, has surely lost its individuality.

'You want to taste sugar, you don't want to become sugar. What is individuality but the expression of our egoism? Until the soul has shed the last trace of that it cannot become one with the Absolute."

Your papers are now in order. You may proceed. and don't slam the door. People are sleeping here.

ah i see, we make a thread to show the spelling nazi's what they do and how bad it is?
and yes i know, noone has mentioned spelling in this entire thread, but i think it is still pretty similar.

not that i don't like being a spelling nazi, if you can't spell, you are percieved as dumb by first appearance, this is bad last i checked, right?

I hate everyone, so you don't have to.

You gave the reason:

and in the same post, you misspelled a word (I before E except after C).

Why the hostility? You posted nonsensically to the thread. From what I could decipher, you were commenting on misspelling words. Ironically, you misspelled one in your post. I seized upon that for the sake of humor. No offense was intended.

However, I'm sure I'll feel right at home on your ignore list.

The thing is, Who cares?

As far as my research shows, the spelling error and or grammatical error in this forums welcome message does not cause harm to anyone. There has been no significant link between grammar and cancer, no proof that poor spelling causes birth defects.

Besides, the message was changed a few years ago and there was a big huff raised over the change. (if I remember correctly) where were you then?

The guy who wrote the login message is no longer a member here, probably so overcome with shame that he had to leave. Rest assured, I shall track him down, wherever he is, and mock him without mercy.

Further research shows that he has moved to another forum and now masquerades under the name of Travis "Hester" Bickle.

Another poor fool who though he could evade the Spelling Police.
