I share the frustration of other posters about this problem. Why would a player not simply play what is on the CD, including inter-track silence? If there is no inter-track silence, then do not insert any. If there is inter-track silence, then play that as well. Seems intuitive. And, that is the way that wmp works; so I know that it is possible to do.

Of course, it may get more complicated with ripped files, because it would be up to the ripper to decide whether to append an inter-track silence gap to either the end of the previous track or the start of the next track.

What am I missing here?
