Essentials Pack Pugins Localization FAQ
Last updated: 29.06.2010

A few words about localization support of the plug-ins in general, it seems, that there is need for explanation.

Already translatable or no need for any translation:

Apple Lossless Decoder [alac.w5s]:
- system file, so no need for any translation

Additional Flash formats [f263.w5s]:
- system file, so no need for any translation

Nullsoft Vorbis Encoder [enc_vorbis.dll]:
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (enc_vorbis.lng)

Nullsoft Waveform Wrapper [in_wav.dll]:
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (in_wav.lng)

WavPack decoder [in_wv.dll]:
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (in_wv.lng)

Lite-n Preferences [gen_nopro.dll]
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (gen_nopro.lng)

Predixis/MusicIP removal tool [gen_killpredixis]
- system file, no translation needed

Find on Disk [gen_ffod.dll]
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (gen_ffod.lng)

Playlist Sidecar
- Translation (automatically) done via main skin translation file, which is official part of the WLZ language packs (Wasabi.xml)

Time Restore & Autoplay [gen_timerestore.dll]
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (gen_timerestore.lng)

Classic Album Art Viewer plugin [gen_classicart.dll]
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (gen_classicart.lng)

Playlist Undo [gen_undo.dll]
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (gen_undo.lng)

Skin Manager [gen_skinmanager]
- language file for this is official part of the WLZ language packs (gen_skinmanager.lng)

Currently not translatable plug-ins:

None

So if you are using a language pack, all green entries usually should be available in your language too.

A copy of this is available for all official translators on the Xlat server too.

thanks for the clarification of this koopa since i wasn't 100% sure on where things stood with the EP translations. i will just chip in that the intention is for the 3 plugins which can definitely be localised to be done by the end of Q2 2009 (that is the aim so may be before or may not make that date...) and as for in_wav... we shall see

My language package doesn't count this file (trap_auto.ini).
Some example to be translated?

Hmm, yeah in the 5.54 example builds, it isn't included, it was before and should be bundled in 5.55 again.

Most translators already bundle it.

Never mind, here is the example file:

Translate it, rename it to trap_auto.ini and add it to your WLZ file:

http://stashbox.org/101026/trap_happy.ini

Edit: if added it to winamp-en-us-5-54.wlz on the xlat server.

Just a note for translators, 'Nullsoft Waveform Wrapper' is now localizable.

Same for the 'MB Enqueue and Play' plug-in, which will be shipped with the next Essentials Pack. Just another great plug-in, we can' live without.

Big thanks to DrO for his translation work on these plug-ins and for the permission to ship it.

Official translators can find the example file and an updated installer, which includes the new dll files on:

xlat/essentials pack/language files.

all other people, can just go to Dro's website:

http://nunzioweb.com/daz/releases.html

and grab the files.

Simply add translated versions of enqplay_auto.ini and in_wav.lng to your wlz and here we go.

This is for all non official translators.

If you're making a language pack, which isn't bundled in Winamp directly, you may want to translate the Essentials pack plug-ins as well.

I've attached a zip, which includes latest Essentials Pack language files. Translate the files and add it to your wlz.

I've also reworked the first posting in this thread to provide more informations. Should make thnings more easy for new translators. The translation FAQ is updated as well.

Thanks, but too late for 5.55. I think it will be obsolete for 5.56.

[Edit] it seems, that you've luck, I recompiled with your update, hopefully this will be the version, which is available on winamp.com.

Hey gang,

I was finally able to freeze the strings and finalize the example file for 5.57

There are a couple of new things and I cleaned up the language file in general.

Just a few notes:

1.) Find on Disk

installer based translation of this plugin is obsolete, so it's no longer part of the installer translation file. It now follows the other plug-ins and is fully localizable via the WLZ translation system. You can find 'ffod_auto.ini' here: Download. Thanks to DrO for this.

2.) Re-designed Welcome page

I've finally gave the welcome page more love and it now follows Winamp's welcome page. It results in a few more things, which needs to be localized.

I guess you need a bit to optimize that page in your files, but I'll help anyone to optimize the page.

3.) Winamp minimal version check

Since we ship a few components, which may won't work on older versions, EP now has a Winamp version check. If the installed Winamp build is too old, the installer provides an message and will abort installation.

If you want to test your installation string for this, simply use an older Winamp.exe.

The required version for the EP betas is set to 5.5.7.2627.

4.) Winamp installation check

There is also another check. If installer cannot find winamp.exe, it will provide a message and will abort.

If you want to check your translation string for this, simply rename winamp.exe to winamp.exe.off.

5.) I've merged English and Example file.

So instead of two files, there is just the English file

The rest are just smaller changes/additions.

Official translators can find the updated English installer file on xlat/Essentials Pack/installer translations. For all other it's available here.

If you've any trouble or need help, post it here. All incomplete language files are disabled due compatibility issues.

We currently have updated translations for:

English, German, Polish, PortugueseBR, Turkish, Russian.

I'll post a public beta here, when we have a few lanuage updates.

Thanks for your update.

I've set all from ${LANG_ENGLISH}to ${LANG_ITALIAN} and removed the changelog from your file. Otherwise the rest is looking perfect. Italian welcome page doesn't need any tweak, well done.

Latest English example files for the shipped plug-ins for all non official translators, which have no access to Xlat.

If you want to provide localized Essentials Pack Plugins in your language pack, simply put these files into your .wlz file, after you translated them.

Containing:

- enc_vorbis.lng
- in_wv.lng
- in_wav.lng
- trap_auto.ini
- nopro_auto.ini
- ffod_auto.ini
- enqplay_auto.ini

Thanks. Will be included in final version.

If you want to use quotations (""), you have to use '$\'

I've fixed the following line in your file:

LangString "UI03" ${LANG_FINNISH} "Sijoittaa modernit ja klassiset skinit eri alivalikoihin '$\'Skin'$\'-valikossa."

Please use this in future as reference.

The rest is looking great.

First thread has been updated including latest example language files for non official translators.

Localization FAQ was updated as well.

As for 5.58, all Essentials Pack plugins are fully localizable now. We finally reached our goal. Big thanks to Darren to make this possible.

Cool thanks, but could you update to v1.17?

There are not many changes between 1.16 and 1.17.

If you need test builds to check your translation, juste lemme know and I send you test builds via PM.
