I love the long, bending shapes in the middle, and the way they reflect colours, but the background is way too loud/technicolor for me.

Yeah, it looks more like "Plasma Elemental"

I love that texture - just not sure i could look at it for very long on a skin. It's more 'psychedelic cloud' than 'fire' at the moment. I take it you're going for contrast with the grey 'beam' in the foreground! Would be nice if it was a bit curvier but it probably doesn't make that much difference. Very early on but the skin is less like an element and more like a compound or mixture! Certainly grabs your attention though.

you really need to get rid of the green and blue from that pic. maybe an orange/red layer on top of it, set to colour.

The new background is cool...a little bright, but should look fine once the skins finished.

I really like the foreground in the other ss though, i hope you can make something as good (or better) for this one.

I'm glad you're not abandoning the first skin. I thought the way you got the "frame" to reflect and glow was faboolous.

The new background looks great as well. It has the same lighting effect as the water elemental skin, and I like that link. I also like how the similarities end right there. This looks like a piece of art, or the side of an adobe hut after a long, dry summer.

Back to the lighting effect, my only suggestion would be to tone it down a bit in the top right-hand corner. I feel you've lost too much detail there.

the top right corner is suppose to be the light source....so i dont think im gonna tone it down(unless it looks odd when the skin starts to form up)

this new screen is VERY early and the colors are sooooo not staying(especially the blue)

it reminds me of gummy worms..hehe

and thank you for noticing the BG similarities with water elemental,
i used the same filters(and 1 or 2 others)

can someone give me some "firey" suggestions...cause my fire creativity is really lame...

Wow, I know I'm just going to be dissapointed when you eventually change it totally, but that 'claw' looks fantastic! The background is very lively, which it should be. By the way, judging by this and the last skin, I knew exactly what I was talking about when I said you should move up from mspaint

the inner glow is partly what gives it the "gummy" effect...it looks pretty bad without it

(btw,water elemental got DD)

but i dont see that "daily deviation" logo under the skin in detail mode...i hope they didnt get rid of that

PHOTOSHOP QUESTION!!!!!

now see here.....

what i want to do is rasterize the shape.....then i want to erase, say the middle of the shape....WITHOUT affecting the rest of the shape...

i want to do this because i want the middle of a shape to be transparent while the rest is 100 visable

like in the first skin(ultima)the bottom(red to green) faded into the BG but i had to workaround it by reducing layer fill and using transparent gradients...i tried a radial effect rather then a linear but then its only a circle...HELP ME PLEASE.. if im able to do this...you will soooo get a cookie

Once you've rasterized a layer, you can just delete what you (don't) want with the eraser, but I'm afraid that's not what you mean... Aren't masks enough for you? I think I've already told you about layer groups and that, have you tried it (no need to rasterize)?
