I want to wish everyone good luck on finishing in time and winning the contest. Unfortunately, mine is not going to make the deadline. Too many details still to complete (screenshot attached). I plan to finish it eventually though and I do appreciate the inspiration this contest gave me. But based on the talent showing in this thread and my lack of ideas, I don't think I had a chance anyway.

So Good Luck!! And Happy Skinning

If anyone can find any of the skins I made please email them to Forevever@aol.com
I can't remember all the names but specifically hunting for Lascivious, and DEVOUR (compilation with Jax) and any in the Impulse series which had 6 total. Auriferous, Gilt, Impulse, Nadir, and 2 others I can't remember but you dig.

Forevever - how can you not finish that skin?!? It's great! I hope you can make it in time, or at least try. It looks pretty done to me.

In other news...the second entry has been received (kingstar and flatmatt have each sent me one skin).

If by cbar, you mean clutterbar, you could always include an extra tree, and make the clutterbar buttons baubels. I hope all the buttons on the bottom (cbuttons etc.) will be clearer than they are now.

Nope, the contest is not over. You have until this Saturday (and possibly a few hours on top of that) to finish your skins and get them to me.

how much of the skin needs to be done to enter?

like if my skin has no avs or mb. or maybe incomplete winshade.

As much as you'd like. Part of your score will be completeness, but I'll leave up to the judges how much a missing avs or mb will hurt (I don't believe having an avs is part of the typical winamp judging criteria?) - I would think a missing or incomplete winshade might hurt a bit too. Completeness will not be an overly huge portion of the scoring however.

That's really nice xeno - I'm glad you will have it in the contest!

In other news...I guess I screwed up earlier. I believe I had said it was ok to submit your skins to 1001 or winamp before the contest is over, as long as the skin was not submitted before the contest started. However, for those who have not yet submitted your skins to the various murky underworlds of the web, please don't! Please wait until judging is complete. This is totally my mistake, so those who have already submitted skins can still have their skins judged here, but I ask that the rest of you hold off for a bit longer. Thanks.

Just so people read the important part...

Please don't submit your contest entries to skin sites until judging is complete

how come, out of curiosity?

Xeno:
That's looking really cool. For me, aesthetically, its charm is not as immediate as your other ones - but to make up for that, it's damn interesting to look at - one of the most interesting skins I've seen in a while. Some thoughts:

-any way to slightly curve the PL-time display area? It's dead straight, and almost everything else has cool contours

-It might be just me, but apart from the baubels, it doesn't look that wintery.

-anti-aliasing on the thin "cord" parts (eg. stacks, EQ, clutterbar areas) is a bit iffy

-I'd consider carrying the purple background of the main down the other windows more (making it grow darker as it nears the PL, so that it can be all dark on the PL, thereby avoiding tile-related problems). At the moment, it's bright purple on the main and very dark everywhere else, and makes the skin more disjointed than it needs to be IMO

-are you going to include something on that bit just above the text.bmp area (you probably are, but I'll say it in case you're not)? It would be good I think, to stop it being blank, since every one of those other panels will have something on it...you could put your sig or the title maybe.

-it seems to really want a border, especially on the main

-I like the translucencies on the stacks and EQ, but they might be a little too faint (ie. a little too opaque)

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.

Oh, uh, I'll go remove my skin from 1001. But the entire point is so judges don't know what other people are saying, right? So I can leave it at flatmatt.com, I assume.

Yes, the point is that the judges don't know what other people are saying, though I know at least some of the judges have been following this thread. It would be great if you can pull you skin back from 1001 - thanks for offering, I really appreciate it. And as far as I'm concerned, you can keep it at your website - to my eyes, that is no different than posting a preview in this thread.

And I thought I was a procrastinator...

This is your two day warning!

Well, three day warning if you count the fact that I'll give you till the end of Saturday on the entire planet...

...and I've only received two skins so far (from kingstar and flatmatt), so if you've sent me a skin and your name isn't kingstar or flatmatt, send it again (and maybe you should PM me too).

Yep, 3 skins...

I'm still not sure if one of our judges has recovered from his birthday party, so results could take awhile.

Seriously, I will try to get the skins to the judges Sunday, and I don't think it will take them long to judge. That said, I'm sure something will go horribly wrong - so I hope to have results by mid-June at the latest.

If you're talking Posbar . . . .
- a swirl of snow
- a row of Christmas lights
- a yule log
- a rectangular snow globe (okay, a little weird, perhaps overkill)
- stars
- just a nice, colourful, not too overwhelming Posbar shape

As for the Balance and the Volume, just animate some snow (make it swirl!) and clearly mark with a slider or numbers.

*Going into superhelpfulfriendly mode*

Now finish your skin, dammit!

The problem being, you didn't send me the skin!

The contest is over. I received 4 skins, and those 4 have been/are being sent to the judges. If you sent me one and I didn't get it, hurry up! PM and/or email with the skin or how to get it. I received skins from:

kingstar
flatmatt
Simon Snowflake and
¤db¤

If you are not on that list and think you should be...email or PM me NOW!
