kenny, did you know that putting yourself on the top in a list is known as that person being a ego-tripper(unless the list is based on the abc). Just a note. Here you are not associated with that, but in school and in professional buissnes it's not a good ting to do.

thanks for adding me to the list

I like the idea of the chain e-mail. I think we should agree on the style, but not on the theme (I don't think it should have any theme). How about this order?

1 main.bmp background
2 main.bmp vis and title area (including 3 viscolor.txt)
4 titlebar.bmp except clutterbar
5 cbuttons.bmp
6 shufrep.bmp both sections
7 monoster.bmp & text.bmp
8 winamp button (main.bmp) & clutterbar (titlebar.bmp)
9 volume.bmp
10 balance.bmp
11 posbar.bmp
12 eqmain.bmp background
13 eqmain.bmp titlebar and eq-vis
14 eqmain.bmp buttons
15 eqmain.bmp sliders
16 pledit.bmp background & titlebar
17 pledit.bmp stacks
18 pledit.bmp winshade, buttons (size, cbuttons, scroll...) & pledit.txt
19 mb.bmp background
20 mb.bmp buttons & titlebar
21 avs.bmp
22 mikro.bmp big
23 mikro.bmp small and tray

Feel free to modify it
In the chain e-mail it should be included: the list of all made components and who made them, the list or remaining components an people left. When someone finishes his/her component, chooses another one for the next component (as randomly as possible) and sends him/her the whole skin.

Just a thought: maybe, once we know who is in and who is out, we could tweak the component list so that each person will get to do 2 components

Thanks for the link Kiwifreak. Pretty cool skin - Especially the easter egg and the flame war volume!

[off topic] btw, I've just received the third virus e-mail (ie. no message, wierd address and a .bat or .exe file attachement )in two days! what's going on man! I've never had one before - must be a fashion for them at the moment! [/offtopic]

have you had skins published recently? getting sent viral e-mail is a byproduct of publishing skins.

infected compters can send a file to all the e-mail addresses it can find in the browser cache. so basically, the more views your skins get the more virii you will get sent, because your e-mail addy is on your skin page.
best thing is to use an web-based e-mail service as your skinners contact address.

i get a steady stream of dodgy attachments, but since last week it has increased dramatically. my inbox is filled to capacity every few hours

also i have started getting them sent to my old skinners address again. this is very wierd cos its almost a year since i last published using that e-mail address. i think it is either some website that gets a lot of hits has published a skin with my old e-mail address, or they are all coming from afterdawn.com

hmm, that's pretty shitty news. These things obviously browse winamp.com for addresses, because I've had my skins published at at least 4 other sites, and only this week (both my skins were published very recently on winamp.com) have I got these e-mails.

maybe you can automatically delete emails that contain file attachments, otherwise they'll keep on coming in.

Thanks for your scrutiny. Believe me I thought about it before I posted it. I decided to list entrants in order that they volunteered. Since I suggested the idea in the first place, I didn`t see anything wrong with it. Didn`t think it mattered. Thought it should be posted in some kind of order so chose first-come format. Kinda hard to alphabetize a list that`s not complete.
I certainly, of all people, am no "ego-tripper". When you get to know me better you will realize this.
The list is public domain. Anyone is free to organize it any way they wish. I really couldn`t care less in what order I`m listed.

Crazy Same here too. I get about 15 empty emails (no message or attachments from what I can tell) a day that are 120-200 K in size, which isn't good cuz they chew up space on my hotmail account I seem to be at 100% capacity every time I check my email because of the darned things.

I've been getting the empty emails (the biggest was 192k) as well, at least 5 a day, and the virus/game emails as well, I guess some people have WAAAAAY too much time on their hands.

So we now have:
1. Kenny D.
2. Atmo
3. Jellby
4. dimichan
5. Kiwi Freak
6. dbleja
7. Ch33zels
8. Nova 3d
9. Nini
10. dam
11. Cazsius
12. sadorf420
13. Crocodile Dumdee
14. simon snowflake
15. flatmatt

And depending on the final tally, we can see if we need to tweak the divisions up I suppose

I've not gotten any from forum people, mine have all had weird names, the game ones mostly from colleges, and subjects like "The garden of eden" "WinXP Plugin" "Japanese woman and eggs" "A message for you" "call to a meeting" etc... I didn't realize a virus was the culprit -_-;;; My bad...

I've got those e-mails from MrJ.Probably the first question I asked when I joined these forums.
I used to get at least 10 mails a day with a variant of the Sircam virus.

Yeah, thats a crappy yahoo account I have for listing in my skin account here, I'd be fucking amazed if it's me sending you stuff from there, because....

1)It's web based, not local to any machine I use
2)I never even open it, it just sits there gathering spam and viruses
3)I use my own SMTP server for outgoing mail, you would really know a legitimate one from me

Thus proving once again, this particular spam, virus, whatever is using cached crap from web pages.

Deep joy

I hear you man, viruses are just no fun anymore, I mean wheres the fun in dumping 1000's of dumb ass mails in peoples boxes?

/nostalgia mode

I remember , back in the day when I first started writing viruses, they were tiny little things that hid in the boot sector of Amiga floppy discs, which copied themselves into resident memory on the machine the disc was put in, it'd sit there quite happy, writing to any other disc that was put in the machine, and spreading it's payload around the globe.

You know what the most malicious thing it did was?

what?

Anyway, can you imagine that my mailbox (yahoo) burst in let's see... 2 1/2 hours today?

I was again over the 6mb limit.

Record!

I'm getting even more and more from you, even one from lynx, from an address i didn't know. Madness. I'm trying to block these thing as good as i can but they're still flooding in. And how good is sending them automatically to the recycle bin when it's not cleared often enough by the system to be useful?

Agree with everything you say, think my max out limit on the mailbox is about 3 hours as well, and if it makes you feel any better, I get just as many from you as well nini

As for blocking them, what a task, I've filled up the block list of names already, so bit stuck now, can't filter the subjects , cos they are different each time

Oh and the most malicious thing it did was turn the power light on and off

If we are going to make a chain skin, I don't think we should agree on its look first. Let the first skinner choose the background look (always having in mind that other people will make other components, and would probably like to use other styles and colours) and keep working on that.

The most important thing is to know how many (and who) people are in and to chop the skin in that many pieces. Are we 15 (with Nova out)? What do you think of the skinning order list I suggested (It would have to be reduced by 8)?
