I find it rather amusing, altough I hope that when this is fixed, it will never happen again. I don't like losing all my posts.
I just hope that 'the people behind the forums' think of a better password (or whatever the security flaw was) and backup these threads often.

Maybe it's a flaw in the forum itself. I know about the following vulnerability (Tue 16 March 2004) in these forums [see attachment], but I think it has nothing to do with it.

This wouldn't have happened if CraigF was still here, he would have kept it patched and secure.

So, blame Bilbo for this.

I didn't even realized that the forums were still there at first, didn't scroll down all the way

I hope they fix it soon, it was funny at first but it's pretty annoying if it's on top of every page I load...

Interesting read. Why is everyone always so wired anyway?

I am so important I feel the need to let it be known like a liberal discovering the internets for the first time. Uh hur hur hur. I also wash myself with a rag on a stick.

Ever since the night of the 19th, I havn't been able to access the Winamp Forums at all...I suppose not being able to access the Forums might have been liked to the hack, but I wouldn't have known, since I never saw the Bill Gates thing (Just a 404 whenever loaded)...

Was this what I get for browsing with a browser based off of IE5?!

I miss out on all the fun...

it's sad that most people haven't mourned Craig's departure. i'm relatively new here, but Craig helped me get acclamated here and helped nudge me towards my current involvement with Winamp.

it's a huge shame he left, considering how much he's contributed.

No, it was my fault, because CraigF left because of me. If he had been around, then he would have been able to stop the hacker from bringing chaos to the world by placing a picture above the main forum table.

where did he go anyway? what's going on? Craig and Sawg leaving relatively close to each other? what gives?

edit// one time yesterday when i tried to log on, i got a username/password prompt and i tried to log in but nothing happened. i have no idea but i for one am changing my password just in case the hackers were trying to collect login info. i think it would be prudent for everyone else to do the same just to be safe.

Might have been for system administration only, so they could log in and "test" the forums after fixing the problems that allowed the hacker to break in...

K rock, jon's news piece on the main page explains:

"If you try to view the forums and are prompted with a test login please disregard it. This is up there while we try to upgrade the service. You will not be able to get in with you current password. Don't worry. Once the service is returned your old username and password will work just fine."

Bah, I suspected something retarded like this had happened when they misspelled 'Maintenance.'
I mean, what the fuck okay, if you're going to take down a site and be all hacker cool, you spell your words right.

People who do this have no lives.

My bet is, it was someone who was banned, and decided to take it down for their revenge on being banned from a website. Oooh.
