Album Art & Wav Files
Greetings!
Am sure this question must have been asked before, but I can't seem to find the answer: What is the best way to display album art for wav files, without converting them into say flac? Each album is saved in a seperate folder together with a jpg of the album art - can I instruct Winamp to use this jpg automatically? Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi eixth,
If your album art is named correctly, then Winamp may be ignoring it because your files are WAVs. DJ Egg posted the following info awhile back. It may help you sort things out. Of course, the first option does not apply since WAVs do not contain embedded art. "Winamp does NOT load embedded art from a different file. It will only load embedded art from the actual file at hand. The lookup order criteria/precedence is as follows: 1. Embedded art in the tags of the files 2. %album%.jpg/png/gif/bmp in the containing folder (where %album% is the exact name of the Album) 3. An .nfo file with the exact same filename as an image file in the containing folder 4. cover.jpg/png/gif/bmp 5. folder.jpg/png/gif/bmp 6. front.jpg/png/gif/bmp And that is all. Therefore, for Winamp to show any art, either in the Artwork tab of File Info (Alt+3), or in the Bento MCV area, or in a ML art view, then one of those conditions MUST exist." Hello,
I have also some folder and sub-folder with WAV-files (not only much MP3, many WMV and a few WMA). Original WAV-files cannot get ID-tags, so it makes no sense to paste an album art with the album name in a folder with only original WAV-files. In each folder and sub-folder with my WAV-files I have pasted a jpg-file with the exact file-name "cover" in a size between 400x400 - 700x700 pixel (also in all the folder, to where my composed music will come as WAV-files). For each folder and sub-folder I select a 1:1-jpg-picture, which I want to have as jpg-file "cover" there, of course. For me this method works, my Winamp shows the jpg-file "cover" for WAV-files (and also for other files without an album, or if I have made a mistake with an album name in the ID-tags).
