Can't play mp3 files on winamp on windows 10

Before just double clicking the mp3 file would launch winamp and start playing the music. Now nothing happens. Winamp launches but the files are always 0:00 and nothing plays. The same files work fine using vlc or win default app. I've reinstalled winamp from scratch a couple of times, changed settings in default app settings in windows but nothing works. How can I fix this issue? It never happened before.
