last second of song repeats

hi,

i've had this problem here for a while, but didn't really care to mention it until now, as i was browsing plugins.

this bug seems to happen with songs that i rip with winamp

the last second, or maybe half a second, skips. it repeats before the end of the song.

but this only happens with certain CDs i rip, particularly system of a down CDs. in fact, exclusively system of a down CDs. I suppose it has something to do with how the soad CDs have sort of a built-in crossfade feature, you know the songs sound as if the next song begins as the previous guitar riff is fading.

not sure though

anyone else experience this or can tell me how to remedy it?

'pologise if this has been posted, but i did search.

thanks, regards

Maybe using wnaspi32.dll will render better results:

Last Second of Song Repeats

Same problem but with all mp3's. Tried removing the Sonic engine and used each of the wnaspi32.dll files but not effect. Ideas?

Don

Edit: I'm missing everything today, they do play ok in other players. (Spreading posts over multiple threads is confusing).

Does this happen with a clean install with default settings?

If not, what input/dsp/output plugins do you use and how are they set up?

Did a fresh install. No joy. Even occurs with the Lama demo mp3. None of my other players has this problem. Is there a quick way of sending a list of plugins and settings?

Plugins yes, see here, but it won't do settings.

If you did a clean install it isn't necessary anyway though.

Better post your full system specs.

You may want to try the DirectSound output tweaks.

Does the problem persist if you disable crossfading?

Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Output > double-click DirectSound output > tab Fading
select 'on end of song'
uncheck 'Enabled'

You do not have a DSP plugin enabled?
Prefs > DSP/Effect > select '(none)'

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

Solved itself, strangely...

Haven't tried the crossfade, all was left on defaults. Noticed that after re-install (which did not fix the problem) that I was getting distortions which I had corrected before re-install because re-install went back to defaults. So applied the distortion solution (listed in the forum) again to this re-install and the last second repeat disappeared.

Weird thing is that the repeat problem began fairly recently, a few months after I had fixed my previous distortion problem.

Gotta love technology :-P

Sorry to warm up this old topic, but I have exactly the same problem. Have used Winamp for about 10 years without problems, but I can't solve this one.

Tried a clean install, as per instructions. Deleted everything, left everything at defaults, but it still repeats the last second of each sound file. This started a few weeks ago and persisted through various upgrades.

Win7 Ultimate 32 bit, Winamp Lite latest version (and about the last 4 before that).
