crashing on format converter

I use this alot and suddenly it crashes, updated to latest winamp, still no good. Uninstalled/reinstalled, still nothing.

When i try to send files to the format converter as soon as i click ok winamp crashes and shuts down. From my view it doesnt even seem like it attempts a conversion, just the idea of a conversion causes the program to fail.

Any idea's?

If upgrading and re-installing wont work then im stumped.

P.S. this is the only feature that made me buy pro so the fact its not working is pretty darn sad.

Running Windows 7 64 bit. 4 GB ram, plenty of harddrive space.

Hi Skoubah,

What file format are you converting to and from? e.g. wav to mp3

What version were you running before? Did you do a 'clean uninstall' (deleted everything) before installing the new version or an in-place upgrade?

Install the latest 5.7 beta 10 (build 3417). It is the same as the 5.64.3418 version except for the Cloud feature (you don't have to install the Cloud feature). The beta should generate a crash report that you can attach to a post to give the devs something to work from.

You should also use Koopa's Winamp Info Tool to generate an extended report of your Winamp configuration. Attach that also.

When it crashes and you click on "more information" does it say the problem is with the ntdll.dll file? If it does, I was having this problem recently, and from looking around it seems to be a problem with that file possibly getting corrupted. It's not a Winamp file, it's a Windows 7 file.

I would first try rebooting to see if that fixes it. If that doesn't work try updating to the latest 5.7 beta as Aminifu suggested (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=356750). That fixed it for me.

And strangely, after installing the 5.7 beta everything worked fine, and then I went back and ran the 5.64 installer again, and it all worked fine in 5.64. Not sure why, but I haven't had any problems since.
