Hard Cuts

they work on a loudness threshold. Is ti absolute loudness, or loudness relative to the sound before it? Anyone know?

alrighty then.
It's just that sometimes milkdrop will do a hard cut for no apparent reason - not even on the beat. As far as I can tell, the volume doesn't increase suddenly. It's a little wierd. I run hardcuts on maximum threshold, set to go every 2 seconds (hardly ever does, but it works good in some songs)

That's because it tries to keep the threshold relative to the volume of the music you're listening to. When it's time for a hard cut, it starts to wait and listen for a loud beat... but after a while, if it doesn't hear any, it gradually begins to lower the threshold, until after a long time, even the faintest change in volume will cause it. It could just wait forever and maintain the old threshold, but then you might never see any hard cuts, which would be a bummer. On the flipside, with the way it is now, you sometimes see them during quiet music. I guess it's a matter of taste. =)

Also - feed back on what you've set the threshold to, in relative volume, expressed as a percentage. The range would be from 100% (no increase in volume) to some big number. Obviously anything above this volume will also trigger the hard cut. This way, silence followed by sound, will ALWAYS trigger a hard cut - as it should.

E.g. - hard cut when the music hits 150% what it was, etc.
